We’re seeing great progress on another 60-bail construction underway in Mid-Canterbury.

Structural steel assembly and standing is underway, alongside PE lining of the effluent ponds.

May is set to be a busy month, with the shed floor, silo pads and round yards all scheduled to be poured.

Construction of the rotary platform and building of a new calf shed gets underway towards the end of the month, which will see things really start to take shape.

It’s taking full shape now with a very busy upcoming week on-site. The platform is to be poured Monday, plant fit-out beginning Tuesday and lining of effluent ponds towards the end of the week.

After that there will be a couple more large concrete pours and the shed will be ready to milk cows mid-May.

Southbridge RFC celebrated their 150th year over the Easter weekend of which Tambo is a proud sponsor.

The celebrations kicked off on Friday with a Meet and Greet, featuring entertaining chats with rugby legends Waisale Serevi, Pip Love, Wayne Smith and Andy Ellis.

Saturday was packed with action, starting with JAB games, followed by Div 2 and Div 1 matches, alongside many decade photos and catch-ups for past and present players.

The formal evening on Saturday featured presentations from Matthew Cooper (President of NZ Rugby), Mike Lay (Chairman, Canterbury Rugby Union) and Dan Carter, followed by presentations to new SRFC Life Members Andy Bailey and Chris McMillan.

A dusty Sunday saw the Carter clan assemble for a Golden Oldies game, following by the eagerly awaited return of local women’s rugby.

Congratulations to Southbridge Rugby Football Club for hosting a very enjoyable and memorable weekend commemorating 150 years of rugby, community and history.

We have a new member of our team we would like to introduce you to; Henry Bartrum joined the Sheep and Beef team in February this year. Prior to joining Tambo, he completed a cadetship at Otiwhiti School of Agriculture before moving into a full-time shepherding role at Otairi Station in Hunterville, where he gained strong practical experience in day-to-day farm operations and livestock management.

Henry holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Agriculture), a Diploma in Farm Management, and a Diploma in Agriculture from Lincoln University (2025). During university holidays, he gained additional hands-on experience working across a range of properties, including Mendip Hills Station and Whalesback Station. He also brings valuable practical insight from farming in Kaikōura, where his family are actively involved at Lynton Downs.

When he’s not on the farm, Henry makes the most of the rural lifestyle – whether it’s fishing, hunting, or heading out into the hills. He also enjoys spending time with family and friends.
