Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there.

I'm pretty lucky to have a fabulous dad... and even luckier to have a few extra local legends I affectionately call my second dads. They never hesitate to lend a hand, offer a bit of advice (whether I asked for it or not 😅), or stop in for a yarn.

So today, here's to all the dads, stepdads, grandads, father figures, and honorary dads who make life a little better.

Happy first day of Spring!
..Apparently.

I'm not sure Central Otago got the memo yet.

But one thing that does make it feel like spring is CRIMSON ROSE is officially heading out the door.

The first orders are packed and heading out the door TODAY, and I can't wait for you all to get your hands on this year's release.

Here's hoping the weather catches up soon.

Until then, I'll be celebrating spring with a glass of Crimson Rose and a jersey.

I saved one of my favourite pairings for last.

My White Heron Port with Mt Domett Double Cream Brie.

Whitestone describes it as:

"A smooth, creamy, earthy, subtle textured cheese, with a 'wicked' rich flavour that strengthens with ageing to run at full maturity."

The creamy richness of the brie is the perfect match for the fresh fruit and citrus notes in my White Heron. It's soft, balanced and dangerously easy to keep going back for another bite.

If you're planning a cheeseboard this winter, this is one pairing I'd definitely recommend trying.

And there you have it... my three favourite Whitestone Cheese and Tannacrieff Port pairings.

A little heads-up... Father's Day is just around the corner.

If you're scratching your head wondering what to get Dad this year, I've got you sorted.

For Father's Day, when you buy a 750ml Ruby Port, you'll receive a 50ml White Heron Port to try.

Or, if White Heron is more his style, buy a 700ml White Heron and I'll throw in a 50ml Ruby Port.

Port has a funny way of turning "I'll just have one" into "Well... while the bottle's open” and then into “sheesh the bottles empty”

If you've never had blue cheese with Port... this is something we need to change ASAP.

One of my favourite winter pairings has to be Windsor Blue with a glass of Tannacrieff Ruby Port.

Whitestone describes Windsor Blue as:

"A distinctive cheese in both flavour and colour. Full-bodied and savoury, with a sharp, lingering aftertaste."

I love how those bold, savoury flavours balance with the rich berry notes and smooth sweetness of my Ruby Port.

If you're putting together a cheeseboard this winter, I'd highly recommend giving this pairing a go.

Sometimes the best combinations are the ones you weren't expecting.
