We’re open and ready to be serving you curry!
We have two awesome curries tonight, a vegetarian Iranian saag and a beef and lamb Rogan Josh that’s been finished with caramelised onions. And we are topping it all off with masala roasted potatoes and cauliflower, and a side of red pepper relish!

AND we have some firefighters in tonight as a part of the strike for good initiative so you may be served up by some of our awesome and essential service workers that really need all of our support right now!

Looking forward to seeing you here! We are open till 745

Kia ora everyone!

We’re looking for someone who is keen to pick up our food scraps reliably once or twice a week!

Our friend Calvin has been picking up our scraps for his pigs over the past few years, which has been such an amazing help. We are so grateful for Calvin! He’s unable to pick-up anymore, which is why we’re connecting with you!

Each week, we have about 15 Bunnings buckets of scraps. Our scraps are fruit & veg, cooked kai, and they may contain meat. It’s important to us that the buckets are returned reliably, and if you’re able to rinse them before returning, we would love that!

If you are keen to make good use of our food scraps and know you could pick-up reliably, please get in touch with us by sending us a message here or an email to [email protected]. If multiple people are interested, we’re sorry, but we will only be able to work with one of you for the sake of simplicity.🧡

Thank you for all your kindness & support, everyone! We hope to see you around for lunch and/or din today! ☮️🧡🥣

We would love some more recycled paper bags if you’ve got them! 🧡

We use hundreds of them each week for our free frozen kai parcels and our delivery orders. Your donated bags & your kindness help us out heaps with these services!! 🧡

Esther will be serving up our classic deli-style lunches from 11am to 2pm, and we have a homely-style dinner from 4 to 7:45pm 🧡

Today, it’s crumbed hash brown balls with cauliflower cheese, slaw, sweet chilli sour cream, and your choice of our vegetarian nacho ‘mince’ or pulled pork. We’d love to see you all around today (and whenever you can make it here!)! ☮️🧡🥣

People often ask why we named the eatery ‘The Bowling Club.’ The name comes from the fact that we encourage people to bring their own bowls (or containers). 🔸

The bring-your-own-container scheme was a practical way to reduce waste.... But a nice unintentional effect is that it also encourages The Bowling Club to be a place of sharing. 🔸

People will often walk up to the serving bar & sheepishly put their containers on the counter. "This is my first time here. I don't know what I'm doing," they'll say. "I didn't know what to bring! Are these containers okay?" 🔸

Of course everyone's containers are okay... no matter if they're "too big" or "too small" or “fragile” or “stained” or were “forgotten at home”... or whatever they may be. 🔸

It feels like simply encouraging people to bring something from their personal-lives (even if it's as mundane as a container) unintentionally encourages people to share other snippets about themselves too. People regularly share memories, photos of their family, art, life updates, etc... And people have also shared lots of vulnerable & fragile snippets too, like their disappointments, insecurities & fears. 🔸

The year before Liam and I decided to start The Bowling Club, we were feeling aimless. We'd often go for walks to discuss "what are we doing here??" We didn't (and still don't) know, but we decided that whatever we'd get up to with our lives - we wanted it to focus on sharing. 🔸

We didn't expect to start The Bowling Club... but here we are! We are so grateful to be here, sharing kai & snippets of life (both the hopeful & the heavy) with our team & community. Thank you for creating a place of sharing with us. Thank you for being here. 🔸

Pictured here is our beautiful customer Shirley - one of the most spirited 'sharers' we know. Her painted rocks decorate many of our homes. On a couple of occasions, Shirley has bursted into song while at The Bowling Club, bringing waves of lightheartedness to the eatery. Thank you for all that you are and all that you share, Shirley! 🔸

As always, thank you for being here, everyone!

💛✨🔸🌈😍 MENU TIME!!! 😍🌈🔸✨💛

🔸 Our Monday & Tuesday dinner menus are the same, generally featuring something homely. We have a vegetarian 'main-of-the-day' and a meaty swap (swap the veggie component for a meaty one).

🔸 Our Wednesday & Thursday dinner menus are the same, and we are serving CURRY! Vegetarian curry with an option to 'add-on' a meaty component.

🔸 For Friday lunch and dinner, we will be serving our FULL wrap bar with additional protein options.

🔸 For desserts, we always have beautiful, buttery shortbread for $2. And we also offer two special 'desserts of the week' for $3/slice.

🔸 Everyday, for lunch and dinner, we also have macaroni & cheese and wraps/salad bowls, so there should be something for everyone!

🔸 If you are finding money too tight right now, we can offer anything at a discounted price. We can also offer many of our meals & desserts for free if need be.

Thank you for being here. ☮️🧡🥣
