This week we caught up with Mackenzi at The Junction – the cute corner takeaway cafe on Hargest Crescent in St Clair, Ōtepoti/Dunedin. Just a couple of blocks from the beach, this spot has become a beloved community hub since opening in 2023.

The Junction serves up smooth brews using Common Good Coffee along with cabinet treats that include legendary peanut crunch slices (from Mak's great grandmother's recipe!), buttery cheese scones, and fresh sandwiches.

Do you know who discovered hazelnut was a good flavour for coffee? Na, me neither. But they were right. 👊

Here's our recipe for the perfect hazelnut latte...

INGREDIENTS 🥛

1 cup of milk (cow or plant-based alternative)
25ml Cameo Hazelnut Syrup
Chopped hazelnuts

INSTRUCTIONS ☕️

1. Add both the Hazelnut Syrup and the milk to the metal steam jug.

2. Heat together using the steam arm of a coffee machine, using your finest barista skills.

3. Pour hot milk into the cup/glass in a circular motion, creating your fanciest latte art. You're the milky Picasso!

4. Garnish with chopped hazelnuts, if you're feeling super fancy.

5. Serve & enjoy.

Note: pour over ice if you want to create a yummy iced version! 🧊
