Welcome to Woodland, where hens roam freely among the trees. Every hen can roam as far and wide as she likes, within the security of these paddocks.

Native trees, olive trees, poplar trees, birch trees, pine trees, these are some of the trees that our hens love at Woodland. On our beautiful farms, our hens enjoy the freedom of secure paddocks, where, in addition to the many trees, they are provided with purpose-built and natural shelters. When outside the barn the hens are free to do what they love doing. For most of the day they’ll hang out u

nder the trees. Foraging for grubs and insects and dustbathing are just a few of the things they can get up to. This is why we believe our eggs are the very best eggs you can buy – wholesome, tasty and produced with the welfare of the hen and the care for the environment that today’s consumers expect.

As the trees shed their leaves, we move with the season - and it feels good to work with nature as it changes. Our WOODLAND trees become natural shelter and enrichment for our hens - offering shade, comfort, and calm places to explore.

Our hens scratch through fallen leaves, roam under branches, and enjoy autumn as it unfolds around them. We keep their spaces clean, dry, and protected through the cooler, wetter months.

Did you know? Hens sometimes sit in trees?

Among our WOODLAND trees, some of our curious girls like to perch up high during the day. This behaviour helps them explore safely, and feel secure - from an instinct inherited from their ancestors, the Red Junglefowl (Gallus gallus).

When hens have the freedom to roam, you see all sorts of natural behaviour.

Here on the WOODLAND farm, we go on an egg hunt every day. Our girls leave a little treat for us each morning, so it's nice to be able to return the favour. That's the kindness that goes into every WOODLAND egg.
