Yesterday marked the start of the new fishing year, and it is also Wakame harvesting season. We separated the sporophyll (also known as Mekabu) before drying as this is where the highest concentration of sugars associated with fuciodan are found. This makes the flakes suitable for nutraceutical, cosmetic and food uses.
