It’s been a while, will get into an orchard update soon but in the meantime Clyde School is looking for postcards from around the world. Can anyone help them out?

The future leaders of Central Otago horticulture gathered in Cromwell on Friday to battle it out for the title of Central Otago Young Grower of the Year. Five fruit and vegetable growers from around the region took part in six theoretical and practical modules to prove their horticultural skills and...

So we've teamed up with our mates Hintons, Strode Road Orchard, Dunstan Hills and Panmure Orchards and collected up some awesome fruit. The kids from Clyde School are coming over on Friday to help us make it up into 5kg boxes that we'll be selling for $30 ($35 delivered). All proceeds collected will be donated to our friends at the Hawkes Bay Fruit Growers Association to help out the crew doing at hard in the aftermath of Cyclone Gabriel.......So if you're in the Clyde/Alex area and after some mean as Summerfruit flick me a message. You can pickup from our packing shed on Friday afternoon or we can arrange delivery on Saturday.

Our thoughts are with our Yummy mates in the Hawkes Bay, along with all of the other growers in the region. For us in midst of a drought the devastation of generations of work caused by Gabrielle is almost incomprehendable…..but these guys are back at it, supplying New Zealand with some of the best fresh produce on the world.

Hawkes Bay is home to Yummy Fruit. Post Cyclone Gabrielle, the devastation being revealed is almost unfathomable. With residents of the region displaced, lives lost and uncertainty for so many, our hearts are entirely with absolutely everyone effected. As our own Paul Paynter has said, “Out of adversity can come humility, community spirit, empathy for others and a work ethic to rebuild”. It will be a long road but for now our hearts are with Hawkes Bay and all regions and people who have been impacted.

Here’s the latest seasonal update from our Summerfruit team:

🧡 Despite the current weather situation, the supply of summerfruit out of Hawke’s Bay is ticking along nicely, so get in and get your school lunch box supplies!
🍑 Peaches and nectarines finishing up in about 10 days. Still a good month plus to get your plum supply.
🍒 Cherry season is winding up in Central Otago 😢 with only 7 - 10 days of availability. There are still plenty available in your local supermarket, which are amazing quality so get in while they last 👏🏻
🍑 Stonefruit is heading into its peak season with good volumes of good quality fruit available out of Central Otago. Apricot quality and supply is high! As are some delicious varieties of nectarines and peaches! Look out for our favourite - the Flatto, a ‘donut’ white fleshed peach 🍩🍑
