The new vintage season starts with pruning but budburst is when the new season comes to life. Timing of budburst is strongly influenced by temperatures. We’ve had relatively mild temps lately and budburst is a week earlier than last year.

For the record, we are well into budburst now. It’s a bit variable across the vineyard with different blocks, soils, clones and rootstock but that’s normal. About a week behind last year but that makes no difference to the end result.
