Join us for a fun weekend with Smoked Meat, Beer Garden, Live Music, and BBQ demos from some of the best in NZ.

Smokin' Oak Barbecue
Winners of TVNZ Cooks on Fire, Competition Champions and BBQ Legends, will be there serving authentic low and slow barbecue.

A beer garden with bar service and drinks on tap.

Live fire demonstrations cooking whole lamb and hog.

An area for children with Inflatable Castle for the kids to play and an Ice Cream Truck beside.

A Live Band will be there through the day playing the hits.

Saturday 12th September 2026 - 11am to 5pm (Prizegiving at 5pm)
Sunday 13th September 2026 - 11am to 4pm (Prizegiving at 4pm)

NZBA CAMBRIDGE CLASSIC II 2026
SCA SUNNY CAMBRIDGE STAKE & SIZZLE 2026
NZBA WHOLE HOG NEW ZEALAND CHAMPIONSHIP 2026

Saturday 12th September for the main event (chicken, pork ribs, pork, brisket),
Sunday 13th September: Whole hog exhibition and competition, Steak cook off and dessert, alongside the monthly Cambridge Market.
Come join us for some fun family days out with some of the best smoked meat in New Zealand, drinks, live music, and an area for the kid to enjoy.

Wellington last weekend celebrating my brother's 30th and I got to do what I love best. (Making people happy with food!)
Massive shout out to LOW I-QUE for the help with the pits and to Choice Bros Brewing for such an epic venue, serving excellent beer and a perfect spot for people watching.
To my brother Matty White I love you and thank you for giving me this opportunity.

What a f**ken vibe this was. Found myself on the oposite side of the fence, done a cooking challenge, and enjoyed watching food getting the love it deserves a few wicked demos and all out just a heck of a day.

Over the weekend, I had the opportunity to cater for a 30th birthday party, and it was a awesome experience with many happy guests.

The Menu included pulled lamb leg and shoulder, pulled beef, pork ribs, wings, and brisket, served alongside potato salad, coleslaw, green salad, and buns.

Massive thank you to Mandy for putting this comp on again such an awesome campground and so family friendly.

Wasn't my greatest cook over the weekend dialing in a new bbq, having issues with chicken skins and crazy weather made it quite the adventure, but f**ken loved it none the less and would run it back in a heartbeat.
Was so good to see the bbq family and catch up with everyone again

Pork 20th
Brisket 14th.
Landing us 19th overall 🤦‍♂️

Still happy that we got the 4 boxes in, some more adjustments to be made and get use to not running the offset anymore.

Congratulations to Troy from beers championship bbq back to back GC. And stoked for the neighbor Scott of Smokey Fish Bar-Bee-Q on the RGC bloody awesome to see. Oh and of course to my good mate Peter of Rolling Coal BBQ on getting that 1st place chicken absolutely amazing to be there for that.

Thank you to all of you that follow and to my wife for being my team mate and dealing with me at competitions.

Thank you to Mount Butchery-Mount Maunganui for your support and help with both chicken and getting our 1st night's dinner sorted.

Back to planning and hoping to be hitting the blues and bbq festival in rotorua next month.

It's Comp WEEKENDDDD!!!!!!

Tomorrow we make our way back to Taupo for our second shot at BBQ Mania can not tell you how excited I am for this.

If you are up to no good causing trouble in the neighborhood call on in to the great lake holiday park on acacia Bay rd and check out the shenanigans we are upto.

3 comps over 2 days 23 of the best pitmasters and Black Label Barbecue slinging there epic food for patrons this event is sure to please and inspire.

First comp in awhile and man it was good to be back at it. First of all massive shout out to Ciaran and everyone that made The Cambridge Classic - Barbecue Festival everything that it was. It was so damn good even with the wet weather.

My results weren't the greatest besides getting a top 10 in chicken which was were we had been struggling. new chicken supplier Bostock Brothers Organic Free Range Chicken and the results pulled through pulling a 9th place.
But from there we went down hill which In my eyes everything got better 🤣 but thats competition.

Massive congratulations to Cook Cartel on their GC good little booster before heading to the jack, good luck over their boys.
And to Rum and Que on the RGC you guys are killing it this year.

Special mentions to Peter and Charlotte for the place to stay and Rolling Coal BBQ being a consistent neighbor of ours at comps.

Congratulations to all other teams that got a call and a walk, time to do abit of research and maybe make a couple changes and we will be back swinging in Taupo next month 🤘🤘
