The herbs look pretty, the animals are more hardy than me but daaamn, I forgot to protect my citrus which is neither of those things!

This year's batch of Not a Doctor may have got a couple more chillies thrown at it than the one currently available. Though it will mellow out a bit over time until its release in April next year...

Not a Doctor is a unique wine experience; made from Rocotto chillies, ginger, rosehips, blackberry and elderberries (it *could* be good for you, but I'm not a doctor so cannot confirm or deny 😜).

Gotta say, it's been a bit of a crowd pleaser, and more than one person has been excited about the idea of using it in a spicy Margarita or a warming Sangria 🍹 (you can find wine cocktail recipes in my blog)

Little bit soggy here at Feilding Farmer's Market, but we're all still here for you 😊

Have been a bit quiet on here this past week, my father in law passed away fairly suddenly this week and didn't feel right to have any focus on social media 🖤

What a day yesterday was!

A successful political rally on parliamentary grounds (fighting against a hasty put together amendment that was put on a new Education Bill that would of irrevocably changed home-schooling in Aotearoa with undisclosed regulations) We actually achieved our goal and it has been dismissed 🥳 I'm on the national committee for home educators, there was a lot of work in the background for this moment!

And then this! I had almost forgotten that a journalist had contacted me a few months back, and I wasn't sure if it was going ahead or not.

I totally embarrassed my kids when I squealed and jumped around in the supermarket when I saw it 😅

You should smell my winery right now! It's a divine musky sweet perfume that only feijoa can produce ✨️

Late season Unique feijoas supplied by Mike of Stonepress, organic feijoa orchard in Norsewood. Currently in the mix with Belle de Boskoop apples from our property and limes from Michelle's in Palmerston North.

Possibly my quickest selling wine when I made it last, or perhaps it felt that way as I only had 30 or so bottles! I called it As Requested, and I'm going to be keeping that name because now I'm making a larger quantity, as requested!

It's a long game though, this won't be ready for release until I'd say mid to late 2027.

Fortunately I have a whole lot of other wines available that you can buy RIGHT NOW, on my website!

Have you heard of a chinotto?
I had never heard of them until I had gone down a rabbit hole of research, trying to work out what this disgustingly foul tasting citrus, that had come from my MIL garden, was...

And I'm 92% sure that I've got it right!

It is prized in Italy as a candied fruit, in liqueurs (Campari would be the most famous) and as a syrup to make into a soda. Apparently, it's the Italians version of coca cola!

Raw, they're unpalatable, but apparently they're much better cooked. So I'm having a go at making the syrup, I don't like cola, maybe I'll like this 🤔 I'm not bold enough to make them into wine yet..

So I've roasted them with spices (still didn't taste nice!) And put them in a sugar syrup and in the fridge (so it doesn't ferment) and will leave for two weeks ⏰️

Real-world home schooling!

The last couple of days has been hectic on the bureaucratic home schooling front here, with the government slipping in amendments to an education paper that will allow them to enact worrying regulations on our rights and freedom if we don't come up to their state standard. A box, that a lot of us actively avoid for our children's well-being, by home schooling.

For today though, we're picking up a whole lot of boxes of (empty) wine bottles.. and I needed to check how many I can fit in the car. Let's see how their calculations pan out!
