Essence Of Tairawhiti Essence is more than a food festival. It's about who we are and where we’re from, our essence of life. The Essence of Tairāwhiti.

Local chefs, hunters, gatherers and producers sharing experiences of food gathering, whānau, community and culture. Essence is an experience, iconic to Tairāwhiti. Feeding our guests souls with local goodness, sharing the rich culture of our region and telling stories of gathering and preparing food traditionally. The festival experience will include a large array of local growers, producers and entertainment plus educational masterclasses and demonstrations hosted by local chefs, hunters, gatherers and artisan w**emakers.
