On Saturday we celebrated Ian’s retirement after an incredible 29 years with the Firstlight Frozen family. Since starting with Firstlight in 1997, Ian has shown nothing but loyalty, dedication, and commitment to the Owen whānau and the business.

Over the years, he has watched two generations of our family grow through Firstlight Frozen, becoming a valued part of our journey and our team.

Ian, thank you for everything you have done for us over the past three decades. You will be greatly missed around the workplace, but we are so excited for this next chapter for you and Karen.

Wishing you both all the very best for retirement and the adventures ahead.

Our crew enjoyed a lovely meal together, sharing beautiful Chinese cuisine at the iconic China Palace.

We had lots of laughs, great food, and such a fun night.

And of course, it wouldn’t be a true China Palace tradition without Ken singing karaoke Happy Birthday. 🎤🎂

Always love supporting local, especially a Gizzy classic like China Palace.

Firstlight Frozen Social Club – 2026 Kick Off 🎣🍹

What a way to start the year! 🙌

Our first social club outing for 2026 did NOT disappoint…
We kicked things off with a fishing charter and had an absolute blast out on the water 🎣

Massive thank you to Amber, Mike & Tony on Touchwood Fishing Charters, Gisborne, NZ — such awesome hosts who made the whole day easy, exciting, and unforgettable ⛴️
Highly recommend for any group looking for a social outing.

Our Coast driver Wayne is currently making his way via Napier/Taupo to service Ōpōtiki and the East Coast.

We are deeply saddened by the devastation along the coast caused by the recent floods and severe weather.
Our thoughts, love and prayers are with everyone affected during this difficult time.
