A friend gave me a Monstera,
I smiled; but wasn’t sold.
All holes and stalks and gangly bits,
Not much to behold.

“Look after her,” she said as she left,
I stared at my pot of dread.
She clearly doesn’t know my history
My plants mostly end up dead.

Then somehow... despite my care,
A brand-new shoot came through.
And like a mother with an ugly child…
In my eyes, she’s beautiful too. 🌱😂
