Chris Jarvis moved back to his home town 22 years ago with a guest-centric vision. The original Bay Espresso cafe already existed and we were the third owners, but we believed we could make it better than ever.
July 2026 marks 22 years for us in the Hawkes Bay hospo scene. Watch out for updates about our 22 year celebrations.

Hard to believe we created our Cafe Blend 22 years ago. We wanted something that was low in acidity, naturally sweet, and gave you a good strong coffee hit. We called it Cafe Blend cause we served it at our flagship cafe. And although so many things have changed through those years, we work every season to keep the coffee you love tasting just the same.

The faces behind the beans. This is us Chris & Jonelle Jarvis. This year marks 22 years of roasting coffee in Hawkes Bay. We counted up the other day, 13 venues in 22 years. It has been a winding road, with babies, lockdowns and cyclones but we’re still here. Roasting the freshest organic coffee and now supplying other cafes throughout Hawkes Bay and beyond.
