What are Catchment Groups?

Catchment groups form to take actions to achieve a long-term vision based on a healthy environment (from water quality to biodiversity goals) and a thriving community. Catchment Groups are gaining traction around New Zealand as a way to bring communities together and make meaningful change.

What a difference 80mm of rain makes. After a particularly dry autumn and start to winter here in Hawke's Bay, rain last week has got the green back into the grass. Still not much length to it, but at least it looks like it's growing!

As the sun gets ready to set in Hawke's Bay, we reflect on the one year anniversary of Cyclone Gabrielle.

While people and our communities carry the heaviest load in the recovery, one of the most visible impacts at Brownrigg Agriculture was the flooding of squash and onion crops close to harvest. This year we have been able to bring most of our cropping areas back into production. For many farmers and orchardists in the region, the effects linger on.

Nature forgives but does not forget - these events shape our environment. Our environment shapes the way we farm.
