It is with heavy hearts we announce the closing of our shop effective immediately.
HJ Eatery started off with a full house all hands on deck family of 10+. The love for cooking our family had led to opening our set here in Raureka. Unfortunately, 10 hands became 2 which led to only our Parents opening and closing for the last few months.
2025 was strong in our eyes during the year of 2024, however, you can never pour from an empty cup and it is time for my parents to let go and rest.
We would like to thank all our loyal customers. Everyone who visited us instore, ordered through uber or booked us for Catering and even just spreading the word that “theres a new shop in town”, WE THANK YOU and Appreciate you for coming through. We apologise for any disadvantage in our cookings if there were any.
We would also like to thank Hastings Council for believing in us and allowing us to cater our Island Food to the Community.
As the saying goes in our samoan language, “E le falala fua le niu, ae falala ona o le matagi” which means “The coconut tree does not sway by itself, it sways because of the wind”.
In saying that, Time to heal and let the Wind carry us to our next Goal.
