Amazing fossil found in the vineyard. The hill was pushed up out of the sea at some stage a long time ago and with it came some brilliant history. No idea how old it is but it's fair to say it's way before our time!

Late 1999 (or early 2000) la collina vineyard. In the first photo the vines on the right (top of the hill) were planted in 1998 and the vines on the lower half of the hill had not long been planted. The second photo looks out towards the Ngaruroro River (NW). Compare it to the third photo which was taken on the last day of 2013. The interesting comparison is how little of the gravels was planted back then!
