Remember when I posted that I had an issue with running over irrigation pipe hidden in long grass on a job! Well this, although its far from the worst ive had ,is still enough to stall the mulcher and try to burn out the belts! Not fun and sucks time from your day trying to cut it out! Still, it could be worse ! 😆

This was almost fun! Helping to tidy up an orchard that was pulled out a little while ago and i had to mulch over the old w**d strips where apple tree suckers had re grown and on the outside rows i assume suckers from the shelter had grown . Some had trunks as big as 10cm thick ! I got most of it done but had to leave the end of the last few rows because there was still irrigation lines running down the rows under all the grass and suckers and it kept getting caught around the mulcher drum!! But that's a picture for another day !!

Still the odd bit of mulching happening, but it's not pleasant ! I could not see the mulcher behind the tractor at all and when I tried to go with the breeze I couldn't see anything!! So had to do a speedy loop back to the down wind end to start the next row ! Not normally a problem when winter mulching!

It's a minor tractor modification, but one ill get plenty of use out of while mowing this summer . If you've got a minute and a half to spare, check out what I get up to when I'm not mulching or mowing! With jobs slowing down after winter pruning and the mowing still to really kickoff, I get a chance to get stuff done at home. Here I'm using an old Farmall cub to form some potato beds in the new and improved veggie garden area ( notice the almost completed fence around and the soon to be covered tunnel house's ) . I got to use the Claas tractor for the first time this year with the old Howard power cultivator/harrow on it to prepare the beds. It has a much slower gear box than the 2040s JD I've used previously so I was able to cut a brand new garden bed next to the one I was working in the video in 2 passes from virgin ground ( over the next few years well add some compost to improve the soil for better growing veggies 👍) .
If anyone has any old plant from disc's to plows or any old rusty no good bits that I can buy to cut down to make different attachments for the Cub please let me know .

The mowing has definitely kicked off now, and with the forecast rain ( and warmth ) this week, it will grow like crazy ...

Busy times at the moment! Currently on a 50ha grape mulching job and it's been a real mixed bag of weather !! From rain , frosts , sunny and over 20°C and like in the video, very windy and cold!! Nice to see some blossoms out which means the stonefruit mulching is almost at an end for this season . However, if you have any late flowering summer fruits get in touch asap so I can try and fit your job in before the sprayers need to go through .

Doing a bit of homework this weekend! We missed our turn with the hedge trimmer last year so it got a bit over grown. I had to mulch before the tops were done because of the amount of trash on the ground would have made it difficult for the trimmer driver to do a good job on the tops. I just did a couple of pass overs with the back flap open so i could mulch deep into the pile of trash .The tops are now done and I have to go back over it again with the flap closed to chop it up finer. Perfect!! The client is happy with the job done 😆

Back at it ( it being saving lightweight mulchers from a visit to the repair shop ) ! Has been a busy start to the mulching season , and an earlier start too! Although things have settled down a little now and I'm able to get to new jobs almost straight away ! Call if you need any help 0274440016
