The 2024 Sophia is the height of elegance and longevity. This Bordeaux-style blend predominantly showcases Merlot, complemented by Cabernet Franc and a portion of Cabernet Sauvignon. Crafted at our Giants W**ery in Hawke's Bay, Sophia embodies opulence, with ripe flavours and a tannin structure that will only age gracefully.

This is a w**e for the long haul, and as Ken Gargett notes: "A w**e of power and focus with great intensity and direction, there is a line of bright acidity running the full journey through to the sleek tannins on a lingering and persistent finish."

Part of our iconic Prestige Collection, Les Beaux Cailloux, 'the beautiful pebbles', is our most pure, complex and refined Chardonnay, crafted from select blocks of our Gimblett Gravels Estate vineyard.

The 2024 vintage delivered fruit of incredible quality, with minimal w**ery intervention allowing a true expression of site. We pick this Chardonnay early, giving a restrained, complex w**e that retains its freshness and acidity, and the structure to age gracefully.

In the words of Ken Gargett: "The Gimblett Gravels sub-region in Hawke's Bay may be seen as a special red district, but it can also produce some glorious Chardonnays, and this w**e surely sits alongside the better Premier Cru Chardonnays from Burgundy, and a few Grand Cru as well. The big difference between those w**es and this one is that they are normally two or three times, at least, more expensive."

GLOBAL LAUNCH: 2024 Prestige Collection

The release of these w**es marks a special milestone for Craggy Range - our 25th harvest, and the first with Chief W**emaker Ben Tombs at the helm.

With vine age across both our Gimblett Gravels and Te Muna sites now surpassing 25 years, these w**es reflect a deepening understanding of the land, and the responsibility that comes with farming it for the future.

Following two weather-challenged vintages, a welcome shift brought optimum conditions across both our Estate vineyards, with Ben noting sunshine as a key element. Yields were exceptionally small, but the fruit carried remarkable concentration - allowing a true, raw expression with minimal intervention in the w**ery.

Ben and Executive Director and family member David Peabody discuss the 2024 Prestige Release and what makes it so significant for Craggy Range. You can view the full video about this incredible collection on our website.

As we prepare to launch our 2024 Prestige Collection, we also mark an incredible milestone, our 25th vintage.

What better way to celebrate than raising a glass or two with the extraordinary people who have helped shape it.
Chief W**emaker Ben Tombs and Executive Director and family member David Peabody recently travelled stateside to host a special lunch in the heart of Napa Valley, a gathering of Craggy Range alumni - interns, cellar hands and w**emakers from harvests spanning the decades, to celebrate a quarter of a century of w**emaking.

Some special back vintages were brought out from the cellar, w**es that tell the stories of those very people and seasons that shaped them.

We also raised a glass to the late Doug Wisor, our very first w**emaker, who left a lasting impression on many, and laid the foundations for the w**es we craft today.

Beautifully captured by 2018 alumni Cary.
Thank you to all who joined us - despite an early start to harvest in Napa.

From The Camera Roll ~
Moments captured by Holly

Based at our Gimblett Gravels Vineyard, Holly has been moving between replants, machinery and spray prep, and pruning strategy with , all in preparation for the season ahead, with Abby the cocker spaniel for company along the way.

She's been checking on the replants, making sure each one gets the best start with a H2Ortigator pod. As part of ongoing compost trials, the team have been taking pruning weights ahead of laying compost across different vigour zones, with further weights to follow later in the season to see what's worked best.

Amongst the beautiful views and vineyard dogs, a bird-dropping spider egg sac - always a welcome resident, and signs of natural pest control at work.

Bud burst is just around the corner now.

We are so excited to launch our 2024 Prestige Collection next week - a true milestone for Craggy Range, marking our 25th vintage and the first under Chief W**emaker Ben Tombs.

Part of this iconic collection is Aroha, a Pinot Noir that expresses its place with remarkable clarity, produced from some of the most pedigreed blocks in our Te Muna vineyard in Martinborough.

While yields were exceptionally small, the fruit was of incredible quality, recently earning a stellar 97 points by Stephen Wong MW of The Real Review The Real Review.

We are so excited to launch our 2024 Prestige Collection in just weeks now - a true milestone for Craggy Range, marking our 25th vintage and the first with Chief W**emaker Ben Tombs at the helm.

Part of this iconic collection is Le Sol, a Syrah that speaks clearly of its Gimblett Gravels site. In the words of Ken Gargett: "I'm not sure if it has ever stood taller than in the wonderful 2024 vintage. This is a brilliant w**e and if it is not on your bucket list then it should be."

Moments captured by Alex

Based at our Martinborough vineyard, Alex has been braving some stunning but very chilly days out in our Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc blocks, with Skip the dog for company. The pruning teams are just wrapping up for the season, as we look ahead to spring.

Alex recently made us proud as he took out the title of 2026 Ormond Nurseries North Island Regional Young Viticulturist of the Year, his third year entering and his first taking home the trophy. In a few weeks' time, he'll compete at the National Final at our Martinborough neighbours, Escarpment, where he's up against the winners from Hawke's Bay, Marlborough, South Island Regional, and Central Otago, on home turf with plenty of local support behind him.

A glimpse at Craggy Range, straight from our team's camera roll.
