Walking season is nearly here.

Our private and fully catered farm walks officially reopen Labour Weekend, and we’re proud to be featured in Wander — New Zealand’s Private Walks, by Gary Patterson.

The book brings together 26 private walks across Aotearoa, sharing the landscapes and the people who welcome you into them. We’re delighted to have our corner of Hawke’s Bay among its pages.

Here at Te Aratipi, our trails take you across our working family farm, through native bush and among limestone formations, with sweeping views from the hills to the coast.

Choose a day walk with a picnic along the way, or linger a little longer with our two-day Walk & Stay. We love sharing this place we call home.

The prize includes two RECLAIM tickets, valued at $330 in total. Travel and accommodation are not included. Entrants must be 35 or over and available to attend on the event date.

We will contact the winner only from Te Aratipi Station. We will never ask for payment or bank details.

RECLAIM

Walk. Strengthen. Learn. Nourish.

A women-only experience at Te Aratipi, designed around movement, strength, learning, nourishing food and time immersed in nature.

Together we’ll walk the land, head into the native bush, move our bodies, build strength and learn more about what our bodies need as we move through midlife.

We’ll slow down too — coming together for a beautiful seasonal lunch by Chef Katie Bachman at The Bush Table, our soon-to-launch forest & fire dining experience tucked away amongst the trees.

Created in collaboration with Janine Couchman of The Resistance and Tess Williams of Willaeo, RECLAIM brings together strength, nutrition, mindset and behaviour change in a practical, empowering and very real way.

It’s time to start planning those spring adventures!

Our private farm walking season opens from Labour Weekend, and bookings are now open for the 2026/27 season.

Choose from our two day walks — the 8km Mangatawa Walk or the 12km Te Aratipi Walk — winding through private farmland, native bush and limestone country, past waterfalls and up onto the ridgelines for some smashing Hawke’s Bay views.

Or, for those who want it all, make a few days of it with our Te Aratipi ‘Walk & Stay Experience’ — two days of walking, a stay in the historic Rabbiter’s Cottage and plenty of good country food and Palmer hospitality along the way.

The Rayburn is roaring once again, warming the heart of the homestead.

The cottage fire is lit.

The chiminea is ready for marshmallows.

The hot tub is heating beneath the stars.

And deep in the bush, a pot simmers gently over the coals.

Winter has well and truly arrived at Te Aratipi.

It’s a season of slowing down, gathering close, sharing food and finding warmth in simple things.

Some of our favourite memories on the farm are made around a fire.

And perhaps our next chapter will be too.

Join Us for our Annual Matariki Planting Day

At Te Aratipi, every guest helps plant a tree.

Over the past year, our guests have walked, stayed, toured, golfed and explored the farm, and now it’s time to get those trees into the ground.

On Saturday 11 July, we’d love to invite our friends, family, guests and wider community to join us for our annual Matariki Planting Day.

Matariki is a time to reflect on the past, celebrate the present and look towards the future. For us, it’s a chance to give back to the land, continue restoring Te Aratipi’s landscapes, and celebrate what we’ve achieved together.

• Saturday 11 July
• 10.00am start
• Native tree planting
• Late lunch together afterwards
• Families welcome
• Friends, neighbours, guests and supporters invited

No experience is necessary — just bring sturdy footwear, weather-appropriate clothing, a spade if you have one, and gardening gloves if you’d prefer not to get your hands dirty (although muddy hands are all part of the experience!).

Whether you stay for an hour or the whole day, we’d love to have you along.
