Sauvignon Blanc - Bold, expressive, and known for putting NZ wine on the map… but it's not for everyone. Allow us to introduce a Sauvignon Blanc for the non-Sauv drinkers.

Our 2023 Smith & Sheth CRU Wairau Sauvignon Blanc offers a more refined expression. Think pure fruit, a beautiful mineral streak and softer balanced acidity without the overt pungency. Crafted from mature vines in Renwick and the Wairau Valley, and partially fermented in oak fuders, for texture and harmony, this is a Sauvignon Blanc with elegance and restraint.

The coundown is on!!!

With the final week of summer almost upon us, Dan Brewster, Associate Viticulturist at our Omahu Estate in the Gimblett Gravels has given us an update of the seasonal goings-on pre-harvest.

🍇The season was off to a slow start with one of the coolest springs in recent memory (by Hawke's Bay standards anyway!). This translated to our varieties bud-breaking over a period of 6 weeks, with Chardonnay first, and Cabernet last.

🍇The season came into full swing with the nor'wester bringing heat, and little rain. It was relatively smooth sailing throughout the season, with fantastic weather over flowering for all varieties and consistent veraison. La Niña has thrown a bit of wet weather to keep us on our toes with the onset of the new year, but the vines are showing resilience to this with some conscious plant husbandry to control yield and air flow.

🍇We’re expecting to be harvesting Chardonnay by the end of the month.

In honour of , we’re inviting our fellow Rosé lovers to open a bottle, pour generously, and raise a glass to pink done well!

Our 2025 Smith & Sheth CRU Heretaunga Rosé of Syrah has just been release (what perfect timing 😉). A mouth-watering Rosé with delicate flavours of berries and meadow herbs, with hints of apricot and cinnamon - delicious!

Due to the wet conditions tonight's Live Music Wednesday on the patio with Bede Ashby has been 'rainchecked'.

Hopefully back to regular music programming next week.

Until then, our wine bar tucked behind Porters Boutique Hotel is still the best place to enjoy a glass of or two of your favourite wine. Open from midday till late.
