Weather forecast looking great for the Members and Sponsors/Closing fishing comp sponsored by GAS Kaiaua and Kaiaua Motors on Saturday 23rd May. High tide is just after midday, weigh in by 3pm with prize giving to follow. As there are no entries required, the Club will be open from 10am to start weighing in your catch. 🐟🐟
Don't forget the members draw has jackpotted to $500 and as this is the last comp this season we will keep drawing it until a member is present at prize giving to take the cash home.
Come along to the club, the bar will be open from 1pm, catch up with mates, have a couple of beverages, lots of good food and a DJ to entertain you during the afternoon. See you on Saturday.

Beautiful warm autumn day for our MW Insurance sponsored comp although it did chop up a bit after the tide turned. Stephen Turnbull had the heaviest snapper at 5.105kgs, the 2nd heaviest snapper at 4.285kgs and Tania Turnbull cleaned up the rest of the adult prizes including the mystery weight of 0.930kgs, she had the exact weight. Nobby Thorburn member number 1792 was not at the club rooms when his number was called out for the Members draw so $500 will jackpot to our Members & Sponsors/closing comp sponsored by GAS Kaiaua and Kaiaua Motors on 23rd May. (The members draw has to go on 23rd May and we will continue to draw it until a member is present when their number is called out.) There are no entry fees for this comp so we will open from 10am to start weighing in your fish. High tide is at 12.28pm, weigh in is by 3pm with prizegiving to follow. Please see the poster below for all the details.

Absolutely glorious morning, we're open to take your entries for the fishing comp.

There are conflicting weather forecasts for Saturday's MW Insurance sponsored fishing comp, so at this stage we will go with the positive ones and get prepared for this Saturday. The club will be open for entries from 7am, weigh in by 3pm and prize giving will follow. You can of course enter online at kaiauaboatingclub.nz.

Don't forget the massive members draw that has jackpotted to $450 but you must be at the club rooms when your membership number is drawn.
Cash prizes for heaviest fish weighed in and of course $250 for the mystery weight snapper, remembering the mystery weight prize is for the snapper just about everybody catches when fishing in the Firth of Thames - between 0.65kgs and 1.20kgs.
See you on Saturday 🎣🐟

Our next fishing comp is scheduled for Saturday 9th May and is sponsored by Malcolm and the team at MW Insurance, high tide is at 12.15pm, weigh in by 3pm with prize giving to follow. The members draw has jackpotted to $450 but you must be at the clubrooms for prize giving when your membership number is drawn. If this is not struck on 9th May, it will jackpot to our closing comp on 23rd May which will be our Members & Sponsors competition sponsored by GAS Kaiaua & Kaiaua Motors and we will keep drawing the members draw at this comp until it is struck.

Be vigilant when accessing the pontoon as there is a lot of mud build up and debris in the channel that has washed down the Huarahi stream. There could also be tree branches and debris in the Firth from the storms so care is needed when going out to your favourite fishing spot. 2 hours each side of high tide is necessary for safe launching and retrieval of your boat.

Hopefully we have seen the last of the terrible weather for a while and we look forward to our last 2 comps. See you on Saturday 9th May - details on the poster below.

Unfortunately conditions are not likely to improve for fishing on Saturday 11th April so the committee has postponed Members and Sponsors fishing comp.
We're all very disappointed that we could not have this very popular fishing competition this weekend. 💨🌬️⛈️🌨️

08/04/2026

The committee will make the decision tomorrow regarding postponing the fishing comp scheduled for Saturday 11th April.
