Today is International Rural Women’s Day. 💚
And we’re celebrating the women who help make rural New Zealand what it is.
Farmers, growers, business owners, rural leaders, researchers, advocates, mums, community champions and women quietly getting on with making things happen.
In our latest issue of Rural Guardian, we put rural women front and centre, sharing their stories, experiences and perspectives in their own words.
There is no single story of the New Zealand rural woman. And that’s exactly the point.
Today, we celebrate them all.

Very proud to see our wonderful daughter in law to be , featured in the Rural Guardian by the lovely Claire Inkson

One of the perks of my job is the incredible women I get to meet and interview along the way.
I really do love what I do, and it’s such a privilege to be able to tell these stories.
With International Day of Rural Women coming up on October 15, this month’s Rural Guardian includes a special feature celebrating some of the women doing great things across agriculture and rural New Zealand.
What I love most about this feature is that these are their stories, told in their own voices. We asked them about their journeys, the challenges, the opportunities, what they would change for rural women, and even their rural superpowers.
Their answers are honest, funny, thoughtful and very different, which is exactly how it should be.
There’s plenty more in the October edition too, with rural news, farming stories, opinion and practical advice from across the sector.
This is probably my favourite issue of the year, and one I’m really proud of.

A ewe we have named in memory of Dolly Parton , (l think you can see why ) has just delivered a lovely wee lamb!
Well done Dolly !
Ps l know you are probably getting sick of lambing photos but we will have lots of new guests of the two legged variety to share with you soon 🤣
