A very special result for The Landing.

Our 2023 Chardonnay has been recognised at the 2026 Sommeliers Choice Awards — an international competition held in the US, dedicated to identifying wines suited to the restaurant and hospitality industry. The awards are judged by Master Sommeliers and leading on-premise beverage directors.

– Double Gold
– 97 points
– Wine of the Year New Zealand

This vintage came with its challenges, which makes this recognition feel especially meaningful. A reflection of the care in the vineyard and the focus in the winery.

Our 2022 Madre Chardonnay and 2022 Madre Syrah were also awarded Gold (93 points).

Grateful to the team behind it.

Winter pruning is underway at The Landing.

Row by row, cut by cut. It's quiet, physical work — and it's a key step in creating the highest quality vintage we can, months before harvest.

The Landing wines carry the symbol of three waka (canoes) — a nod to the journey of those who cared for this land long before us. The central waka represents the senior family members, with the two outer waka travelling alongside as protectors.

Guided by the stars, these voyaging waka carried the first Polynesian explorers across the Pacific to Aotearoa, eventually landing on the very shores we now call home. Their legacy is woven into this place and we honour it in every bottle.

April brings a quieter rhythm to The Landing.

With harvest finished and the cellar ticking along, the vineyard shifts into its autumn colours. A good time to slow down, take in the season and enjoy the wines that started their journey here.

What’s on your Easter table this year?

We’re excited to share the James Suckling review for our recently released Madre Chardonnay 2019, which scored a fantastic 94 points, praising its generosity and expressiveness. According to James, the 2019 vintage is “A flashy chardonnay, showing cooked apple, nougat and vanilla aromas and flavors. The palate is medium-bodied, with a pretty balance of fruit and acidity. A lively finish for a white at this bottle age.”

This is a wine we’ve carefully cellared and nurtured over many years, and we’re thrilled to finally release it just in time for your Easter celebrations. A beautiful match for long lunches, seafood feasts and special moments around the table.
