Paul took every vintage of Hunting Hill we have ever made to London. Twenty w**es, 2006 through 2025, poured in a single afternoon at Farr Vintners.

A few headlines worth sharing after we opened twenty years of Hunting Hill in a single afternoon with our partners at Farr Vintners in London.

Paul took every vintage we have ever made, 2006 through to 2025, and poured them for Jancis Robinson and some of the most experienced palates in the city.

Her verdict, published since in the Financial Times and on jancisrobinson.com, was that they are “virtually invincible”, and that “even the 2006 was undimmed”.

Paul had called the 2020 a star vintage, possibly our best ever. It turned out to be her top w**e of the twenty.

A remarkably dry season. Steady warmth without extremes. Even ripening from first pick to last. Some years, the weather decides to cooperate, and 2025 was one of them.

The result is a set of Single Vineyard Chardonnays with everything we look for: richness, texture, and each site speaking clearly for itself. Maté’s. Hunting Hill. Coddington. Rays Road.

Released today. Available online, at the Cellar Door, and through our retail partners, in very limited quantities.

CRU membership for the 2025 Vintage is now closed, with all members’ w**es allocated. A small parcel of the 2025 release goes on sale Monday 3rd August, online and at the Cellar Door. Limited quantities.

After much anticipation, the Kumeu River CRU for the 2025 Vintage is now open. 🥂

Kumeu River CRU was created to ensure our most loyal customers receive an allocation of our highly sought-after Single Vineyard and Estate w**es each year ahead of public release.

2025 was an outstanding Vintage. A remarkably dry, warm season, steady warmth without extremes, gave w**es rich in texture, carried by the zesty minerality Kumeu is known for. We’re especially excited about the Single Vineyard Chardonnays, keenly typical of their sites.

CRU members are also invited to join us each year for a tasting event where you’re among the first to experience our 2025 release, followed by a barrel tasting of the 2026 Vintage with Michael.

In 1976, a blind tasting in Paris changed the w**e world and Chardonnay forever. The Judgement of Paris proved that Chardonnay greatness could come from unexpected places.

Now, 50 years later, it is an incredible honour, and surprise, for our Kumeu River Coddington Chardonnay to be invited to take part in the 50th Anniversary tasting celebrating one of the most important moments in w**e history.

At Kumeu River, Chardonnay is at the heart of what we do. Over time, Maté’s Vineyard, Hunting Hill, Rays Road, and Coddington have each revealed themselves as unique terroirs worthy of celebrating through their own individual vinification and bottling.

To stand alongside some of the world’s most iconic Chardonnays in this historic tasting is not only a great moment for our history, it’s also a reminder of how far New Zealand Chardonnay has come. Just as Napa once changed the world’s perception of Chardonnay, New Zealand now stands proudly among the very best on the global stage.
