We produce small batches of distinctive wines in the Waitaki Valley, New Zealand. In 2002 we discovered a Burgundy-like limestone-rich slope in the Waitaki Valley and knew we were on to a good thing.

The Waitaki is full of contradictions. Quiet, but never uneventful. Beautiful, without demanding attention. Ancient in its geology, and yet still revealing what it is truly capable of.

Winter pruning is a series of decisions with lasting consequences. Working vine by vine, our viticulturist Timbo Deaker selects the buds that will create the next vintage. Cuts are kept considered and minimal, protecting the health of vines that have been growing on this limestone escarpment for more than two decades.

The name Clos (pronounced "cloe") is derived from the French term for an enclosed vineyard, reflecting the limestone wall that surrounds the estate. Ostler honours the family whose vision first established the vineyard, preserving an important part of its history.

Our Estate Pinot Noir is a bold introduction to Clos Ostler. Grown on the limestone slopes of the Waitaki Valley, it captures the clarity, freshness and minerality that define our vineyard.

Caroline’s is the heart of Clos Ostler. Drawn from multiple clones across our finest Pinot Noir parcels, it reveals the boldness, depth and complexity that our limestone vineyard can achieve.

EOS is the rarest expression of Clos Ostler. Selected only from the most exceptional barrels, with delicate notes of red berries and rose petals that are carried by remarkable precision, structure and minerality.

Connor will be attending Winetopia 2026, across the 7-8 August, where he will be sharing our award-winning wines while bringing to life the story of the Waitaki Valley.
