Farewell Onie!

Working in the dairy industry can be hard yakka, especially on the ground day in and day out. It takes stickability to ride the highs and lows, long hours, changeable weather, manage staff personalities and changeovers and of course ever changing regulations and policies - and that's just a few of the challenges!

Knowing all this makes us so grateful to have had Onie as part of the Station Peak team for 12 years, 4 months, 3 weeks and 5 days!

This week we have said farewell to Onie, and his girls as they embark on their new life outside of the dairy industry in Timaru.
How darn lucky have we been to have held onto this awesome family for so long who we now have as life long friends?

Loyalty is so hard to achieve, and when you do it makes it that bit harder to say goodbye - but we are grateful and we are excited for this families next leg in their journey. x

It was with much sadness that we had to say goodbye to Victor Graham on the 27th December 2022 after he lost his battle with cancer.
Vic was a loved, respected and valued member of our Station Peak family having been with us for over 8 years.

Vic was laid to rest at his marae in Taranaki on the 1st of January 2023.

There will be a memorial service for Victor this coming Monday 9th January, 11am, at the Presbyterian Church on Bowen Street, Kurow for those who would like to join.
Fly free Vic - you were one of life's genuine good buggers and we will miss you so much. 💔

After 4.5 years we are saying farewell to our awesome Machinery Operator /Maintenance guru Stu as he embarks on his next adventure over on the West Coast!

Therefore we now have Stu's position up for grabs!

We are seeking an experienced General Farm worker / Machinery Operator to assist with the day-to-day operations of our dairy farm and run off.

The successful applicant is required to have the following;
• Current drivers licence.
• Experience in driving tractors & diggers.
• Engineering and Welding skills advantageous.
• Initiative & ability to work on your own.
• Positive attitude and reliability.
• Good communicator and team player.

Position would include;
General tractor work including but not limited to;
• Mowing Silage
• Cultivation
• Drilling
• Spraying
• Fertiliser Application
• General Farm duties.

No accommodation available however Kurow is less than 10 minutes away with potential rental opportunities should a move to the beautiful Waitaki be desirable!

The farm:
We are located 10 minutes from Kurow, 45 minutes from Oamaru and 1 hour from Timaru. We are situated in a very scenic area surrounded by mountains and border the Waitaki river. We are part of an awesome, inclusive community with loads of outdoor activities available on our "back door step".

Gosh we have amazing people working for us! Unfortunately some are just so motivated, adventurous and worldly we cant keep them!
After arriving 2.5 years ago to take up a short term calf rearing position and never leaving Madie is now heading back to California! So sad! Maybe you will return like Santiago Solas did Madison Miller?!!

Station Peak are seeking a farm assistant to become part of our awesome team for the current 2022/2023 season.
The role:
General knowledge across all central aspects of dairy farming is essential. These include; milking cows, pasture management, animal health and husbandry, stock handling, vehicle operation and maintenance and general farm related tasks.
Key Requirements
• Currently residing in NZ
• Current eligibility to work in NZ
• Reliable
• Positive and friendly attitude
• A good sense of humour
• Respect for Health and Safety and farm policies

Own vehicle and current drivers licence essential.

The farm:
Station Peak has been a family owned and operated business for over 100 years. We are situated in the beautiful, scenic, Waitaki Valley, 10 minutes from Kurow, 45 minutes from Oamaru and 1 hour from Timaru. The Waitaki Valley, is an outdoor adventures paradise, with endless opportunities on our “back doorstep”. Fishing, walking/hiking tracks, the A2O bike track and hunting opportunities are all within minutes of Station Peak.
We milk 2100 quiet cows through 2 modern 60 bale rotary sheds with ACR, automatic drafting and Allflex collars. This position would primarily be at one of the two sheds.
We offer high quality infrastructure and machinery.
Roster:
We operate a 7/3, 8/3 roster over the majority of the season and a 9/3 roster from mid July – mid September.
Accommodation:
3 bedroom shared accommodation available 5 minutes from Station Peak in the Haka township. Shared with one to two others.

We have a little bit more going on around the farm at the moment other than farming!

Mike and I have undertaken rather a big challenge but the journey so far has been incredible!

Very thankful to Chloe for using her amazing eye to capture some of our demolition discovered gems -it is hugely important that we have this documented for future generations.

If only we could go back 150 years and understand the stories that these discoveries amongst the peeled back layers are trying to tell us!!!

Great night away with our brilliant crew at Ohau Lodge…can’t underestimate the positives you get from getting off farm and getting to know each other outside of the work environment. We have a diverse crew from Tuvalu, Ireland, America, UK, Phillipines, Chile and Argentina, along with our kiwi legends.

You know it’s a good time when one of your staff laugh so hard they pass out!
