Today I was invited to speak at the Ōtaki Floral Art and Garden Club about my little feral world of flowers. ❤️
I’m never entirely convinced I do a particularly good job of explaining what I actually do 🤣 I tend to start talking and hope something useful comes out amongst the rambling 🫣🤣 But judging by the lovely conversations afterwards, I must have done okay.
Mostly new faces today, but a few familiar ones too. And being a Cancerian, I’m a sucker for a bit of nostalgia. So buckle up, we’re going on one of my little Cancerian rides 🤣
We often talk about the people who hurt us. The difficult chapters, the lessons learned, the things we had to overcome. But sometimes I wonder if we give those experiences far too much credit for who we’ve become.
What about the good ones?
The people who made us feel like we could take on the world. Who encouraged us, believed in us, made us laugh until we cried and helped us find parts of ourselves we didn’t even know existed.
The ones we probably never thanked properly at the time, because we didn’t realise just how much they were giving us.
Some are still beside us. Others belong to chapters that closed years ago. But every now and then, a familiar face and a hug remind you of just how much those people mattered.
And still do.
I think there’s something pretty bloody special about that. Realising that even though life takes us in different directions, we carry little pieces of the good people with us.
Maybe we should give them a little more credit for who we’ve become. ❤️
Anyway, who knew an afternoon talking flowers would turn into a philosophical moment 🤣
A huge thank you to the lovely ladies at the Ōtaki Floral Art and Garden Club for having me, and for the beautiful card and voucher.
And here’s to the good people. Especially the ones we never quite thanked enough. ❤️
