🥚 Labour Weekend Hours!

Just a heads-up that our Levin shop will be closed on Labour Day Monday, but we'll be here over the weekend for all your egg and grocery needs!

🐔 Saturday & Sunday: 9am - 12.30pm (normal hours)

🥚 Monday: CLOSED

So don't leave your egg shopping until Monday… that would be a bit of a scramble! 😂

Our new little shop at Waikanae Beach is getting closer, and we've now got a page just for Waikanae!

Our Waikanae shop will be a little smaller, but with the same focus on good food, good value and supporting local producers. 💐

Turns out you knew what you were talking about… 😂🔥

We had a few of you asking us to bring Pepper & Me into the shop, so we did and they’re already proving VERY popular!

We’ve got a great range of their sauces, seasonings and all those little extras that make an easy dinner taste like you’ve put in far more effort than you actually have. 😂

🥚 World Egg Day calls for bacon, surely? 🥓

We thought today was as good a day as any to give one of our fridge favourites a proper introduction...Pestell’s Rai Bacon Company.

Made in Nelson by third-generation butchers, it’s dry cured, Manuka smoked, gluten free and made with no artificial preservatives. Proper, full-flavoured bacon that goes VERY well with our fresh free range eggs. 🍳

And because it’s World Egg Day, we feel like we should leave you with an egg joke…

What day do eggs hate the most? Fry-day. 😂🥚

Luckily it’s Friday, so you know what to do with them - add bacon!

🍣 Sushi Sorted! 🍣

Looking for something a little different to do with the kids these school holidays? Why not get them making their own sushi for dinner?

It's a bit of fun, gets everyone involved in the kitchen, and the best part is they get to choose exactly what goes in their rolls (which might save a few dinner complaints 😂).

We've got some of the essentials ready here at The Big Egg:

🥢 Sashimi soy sauce
🥢 Rice w**e

Add some fresh Turk's chicken or whatever fillings your whānau loves, and you're away!

They might not be the prettiest sushi rolls you've ever seen, but that's half the fun. 😂🍣

Here’s what you’ll pay for our free-range eggs:

🥚 Jumbo – 20 tray $17
🥚 Size 8 – 20 tray $15
🥚 Size 7 – 20 tray $13
🥚 Size 6 – 20 tray $12
🥚 Size 5 – 20 tray $9

And we’ve also got:

🥚 Bakers – 20 tray $10
🥚 Barn Mixed Grade – 30 tray $16

When to find us:

Monday - Friday: 8am - 5pm
Saturday & Sunday: 9am - 12.30pm

Straight from the farms, into our shop and hopefully into your frying pan shortly after 🍳

We've added a great range of Summer Harvest to the shelves, with nuts, seeds, scroggin and Bhuja mixes all ready to grab.

Perfect for the lunchbox, desk drawer, road trips, tramping, after-school snacks... or just when you need something to munch on!

🍿 New addition to the shelves – 3 Monkeys Kettle Corn!

This stuff comes with a warning… it’s VERY hard to stop once you open the bag 😂

3 Monkeys Kettle Corn is made right here in NZ, popped by hand using NZ-grown corn and quality NZ ingredients.

It’s crunchy, fresh and seriously good – plus it’s gluten free, dairy free and vegan.

Perfect for movie night, lunchboxes, road trips… or eating in the car before you even make it home. We won’t judge.

🥛🍞 A few more everyday basics are making their way onto the shelves!

We’re starting to add more milk options, including blue and light blue, along with some more affordable everyday bread choices like Nature’s Fresh, Molenberg and Freya’s.

Because realistically, if eggs are on the list, there’s a pretty good chance milk and bread are too! 🥚🥛🍞

We’re still filling the extra space and working through all the suggestions you’ve been giving us, so you’ll continue to see more everyday staples appearing alongside all the local and specialty products we love.

One less stop on the way home. 🙌
