Last week, some of the team had the opportunity to attend Cereals 2026 in the UK, hosted by Jeremy Clarkson at Diddly Squat Farm. 🚜

With more than 25,000 attendees, 650 exhibitors, and over 100 speakers, it was an incredible two day event showcasing the latest in arable farming, machinery, seed genetics, agchem solutions, and agricultural innovation.

As a business-to-business event, Cereals brought together growers, industry leaders, researchers, and agribusinesses from across the industry. It was fantastic to catch up with many of the companies we work alongside, strengthen existing relationships, and explore the innovations shaping the future of agriculture. Most importantly, the event provided valuable insights into new technologies and practices that could deliver real benefits and opportunities for New Zealand farmers to support productivity, sustainability, and profitability.

A fantastic few days filled with great conversations, fresh ideas, and plenty of inspiration for the season ahead. 🌾

What a great afternoon at the NZ Grown Grains initiative hosted at Gladfield Malt yesterday!

A huge thank you to the Gladfield Malt team, especially Gabi and Doug Michael, for hosting such a fantastic afternoon. It was great to see so many growers and industry members come together.

The team got stuck into the Shovel Off competition, enjoyed a tour of the operating facility, and had plenty of great conversations throughout the afternoon. We also heard from Christopher Luxon and Nicola Grigg, who highlighted the importance of the industry and its future in New Zealand.

A brilliant event from start to finish; thanks again to the Gladfield Malt team for having us!

It was a great evening last week at the Mid Canterbury Wheat Competition Regional Final & Prizegiving held at the Mayfield Event Centre. 🌾

A huge thank you to the combined Mid Canterbury A&P Associations for hosting such a great event, along with trophy sponsors Bayer Crop Science and Cochranes, and event sponsors Corteva Agriscience for their continued support of the industry.

It was great to hear from guest speakers Mariana Andreucci and Derick Moot from Lincoln University as they reviewed data from this year’s competition entries and shared valuable insights with attendees.

A fantastic night celebrating innovation, research, and excellence within Mid Canterbury farming, and congratulations to the farmers on their outstanding results in both the Milling Wheat and Feed Wheat categories. It was awesome to hear our Aston Wheat and Skybolt Wheat are performing so well on farm. 🚜

Harvest is hitting peak volumes at our Mt Stewart site, with trucks rolling in from all directions. We’re seeing grain arrive from as far south as Martinborough and as far north as Tolaga Bay, a great reflection of the scale and reach of our team in the North Island.

It’s a busy time on-site with strong grower support, solid yields, and plenty of activity keeping the teams on their toes. A big thanks to all our growers, truckies, and the Mt Stewart site team who have been working long hours to keep the harvest moving smoothly.

It's great to see the season coming together! 🚜

A niche product segment for PGG Wrightson Grain is facilitating the placement of organic grains, particularly BioGro-certified organic maize grain, for food, feed, and speciality markets.

BioGro certification assures organic integrity, traceability, and compliance. As this niche market develops, securing a consistent, certified supply and managing price risk is becoming increasingly important for end users.

PGG Wrightson Grain works across the supply chain to connect customers with reliable BioGro-certified organic grain.

If you have any requirements for BioGro-certified organic maize grain or other organic grains, please contact us to discuss availability and contracting options. 🌽

A smooth harvest begins with good communication, and this ideally starts by sharing your harvest intentions with the team at PGW Grain makes a real difference.

Letting us know before you start helps with:
- Planning site receivals
- Managing drying and storage capacity
- Coordinating staff and logistics
- Reducing wait times and disruptions during busy periods

Good communication helps ensure a more efficient harvest for growers, contractors, transport operators, and site teams.
If you’re getting close to harvest, please reach out early!

We’re here to help make the season run as smoothly and safely as possible. 🚜🌽

13/04/2026

As maize harvest gains momentum across the North Island, outward grain movements remain critical to keep pace with intake.

Maintaining steady dispatch from sites helps ensure silo space and drying capacity are available as volumes increase, supporting smooth receivals for growers and contractors during peak harvest.

A big thank you to everyone involved, including growers, contractors, transport operators, and site teams, for working together to keep grain flowing efficiently.

As always, with increased activity:
- Plan ahead
- Communicate clearly
- Stay safe around machinery, sites, and on the road

Here’s to a safe, well‑managed, and successful harvest! 🌽🚜
