The Wonderful's KEIRANGI, a 310 hectare farm in Camp Bay. Offering remote off the grid Hut experiences only 45 min from Christchurch. Closer than you think.

KEIRANGI is a 310 hectare hill country farm located in Camp Bay, Lyttleton Harbour. The farm stocks Perendale sheep and Angus cattle. The Keirangi Homestead was built in 1932. The farm sits on naturally fertile volcanic based soils. Steep tussock country is the predominant country type, which is very typical of Banks Peninsula. Native Broom, Kowhai, Manuka and Kanuka grow in the gullies providing

a haven for native birds and other species. Access over the farm is via the well-maintained farm tracks on horseback or hiking. We are lucky enough to have two private historic huts on the farm which you can book to stay, including this historic Fisherman's hut. The Fishermans Hut was built during the depression in the early 1930's, clad in old pressed out Kerosene cans and restored for families wanting to quickly escape. Set right on the rocky coastline, feel isolated and off the grid and take in the sea air, yet only 45mins from Christchurch CBD. Relax, explore the rocky shores, fish and visit the beaches close by, maybe even spot a few dolphins if you are lucky. Hike the Old Pak Track to Little Port Cooper and enjoy the serenity. The space

Hello! We thought incase you have only just found us and missed who we are, (the family hiding behind our little seaside cabin). This is us, and our home. šŸ

We are the Keir Family, living on our coastal farm in Camp Bay, where we farm Sheep and Cattle and host guests in our restored seaside cabin.

Our house sits right by the beach at Camp Bay, which has been so neat for our girls Indie and Heidi to grow up with. Lots of spontaneous beach play dates with friends, and rock pool treasure hunting to keep them busy. Along side the usual farm shenanigans of possum and bunny hunting and raising lambs. It really is a magical place to grow up, it very much reminds me of a Secret Seven Book kind of childhood.

Alex runs our 306h farm. It’s rugged, it’s steep, nothing is easy, but it’s a sight for sore eyes. It runs along 5kms of rocky cliff coastline, all the way to the Heads of Lyttelton Harbour. These steep hills definitely keep Alex fit and young (or worn and broken šŸ˜…). Alex is also a qualified builder and when he’s not farming he was building The Bearded Poet, and now, getting things sorted to start the next cabin build. He loves a yarn so if you see him on the track to the cabin, wave him down. šŸ‘‹

I’m Wendy, and I really do love hosting guests in our cabin, making it a magical place for people to enjoy this little corner of the world. I love design and interiors and telling a story through it. I also get excited about growing vegetables and flowers, Dahlias are my weakness. I’m no expert, I’m pretty much relying on my many failures for learning. I love to bake and I adore my chickens. I’m happiest here at home, on the farm. Wendy Keir
That pretty much sums us up in a nutshell. We can’t wait to share our new cabin with you in due course. 🄰

The Wonderful’s - where you can hike the private scenic trails, take ocean swims outside your doorstep, long hot baths with a view, collect your own dinner from the rocky shelves, cook a feast and watch the sun turn everything golden at The Bearded Poet Cabin.

Slip into a fluffy thick robe and run yourself a bath. Oh and this view! Who needs this right now?

The tides are in no hurry. The hills are happy to stand for another few centuries and the sunset is fine with showing up again tomorrow. Wasting time is just what happens here. Feel free to join in.

Does anyone else have their go to rituals when in a kitchen?

There’s something comforting about reaching for a favourite mug or plate, a slow breakfast that lingers into lunch, the bottomless cup of tea.

We’d hope this is exactly how it feels in the kitchen.

What’s the first thing you would cook in this kitchen if you stayed?
