KEIRANGI is a 310 hectare hill country farm located in Camp Bay, Lyttleton Harbour. The farm stocks Perendale sheep and Angus cattle. The Keirangi Homestead was built in 1932. The farm sits on naturally fertile volcanic based soils. Steep tussock country is the predominant country type, which is very typical of Banks Peninsula. Native Broom, Kowhai, Manuka and Kanuka grow in the gullies providing

a haven for native birds and other species. Access over the farm is via the well-maintained farm tracks on horseback or hiking. We are lucky enough to have two private historic huts on the farm which you can book to stay, including this historic Fisherman's hut. The Fishermans Hut was built during the depression in the early 1930's, clad in old pressed out Kerosene cans and restored for families wanting to quickly escape. Set right on the rocky coastline, feel isolated and off the grid and take in the sea air, yet only 45mins from Christchurch CBD. Relax, explore the rocky shores, fish and visit the beaches close by, maybe even spot a few dolphins if you are lucky. Hike the Old Pak Track to Little Port Cooper and enjoy the serenity. The space
A basic hut with comfortable beds, compostable out-toilet and outside cold/warm shower. Gas heating, solar lighting and gas cooker with all cooking gear provided. Kitchenette with sink and cold running water. All bedding, towels etc provided. Bring your food, a chilly bin to keep your milk cold and bottled drinking water. This Winter, try something new and find the real definition of a restful holiday… instead of chasing the sun and racing to get a pool side lounge chair with the rest of the population. Try a historic secluded seaside cabin. Wooly socks on your feet, hands wrapped around a warm tea, the smell of the pages of an open book, curled up with your special someone in front of a roaring fire. This sounds like real rest to me, how about you? 😌

We notice when guests come to the they don’t tend to leave during their stay, I mean, we get it, there is no need to go see anything else when you have it all right here. But, some people do like to go and have a look around our beautiful seaside village of Diamond Harbour or need to pick up supplies from our amazing Four Square. If that is the case we have to suggest our top recommendation, and that is to go and visit our little gem of a coffee shop . It is not only cute with amazing coffee and delicious fresh pastries, it is only 10mins away. To be somewhere that feels a million miles away yet only 10mins from an amazing coffee shop, well, that’s the best of both worlds isn’t it? 😌☕️

You arrive just as the sun is setting, putting on a golden display across the ocean just for you. Wine is poured, fresh mussels are forage just meters from the door. Slow mornings, followed by a breath taking hike in the hills, and back for a soak in the bath. The Bearded Poet has it all, and just a stones throw from Christchurch. Winter is knocking on the cabin door. ❄️

In our opinion, there is no better time to recluse away from the mouse wheel that life can be. When it’s cold outside, the guilt of refining the art of ‘nothing’ doesn’t even making in the door of the cabin.

Fire on, wine poured, waves lapping, and that strange feeling of not really knowing if it’s 11am or 3pm.

In saying this, if it so happens that active relaxer in you appears, our breathtaking private historic walking track followed by an ocean dip will surely curb that itch so you can get back to that ‘nothing’.
