THE FOOD FOREST PROJECT
FIRST PLANTING

Sunday 18 October · 654 Tara Road

We’re bringing people together for the first big planting of a new syntropic food forest. In one day, we will transform the beginnings of this space and set something in motion that will continue to grow for years to come.

This is the start of a long term education project. Children and teens will be involved with the food forest over the coming years, learning through being part of it, caring for it and watching it change.

At the centre of the food forest, we’re creating a shared gathering space - somewhere to go, rest, eat, talk, play music, learn and gather.

We’re very fortunate to have 3 experienced food forest facilitators, with a huge amount of practical knowledge and experience between them:

James Andrews · James Samuel · Arthur McInnes

We’ll be planting, asking questions, observing, discussing and learning as we go - exploring syntropic agroforestry, succession, biomass, soil, plant relationships, fertility and how a diverse food-producing system develops over time.

📍 654 Tara Road
📅 Sunday 18 October, 9am - 4pm
🥗 Lunch included
💰 $60 per person, paid in advance to Gabrielle to confirm your space then passed on to James, James and Arthur for bringing their time, experience and knowledge to the day.

Bring gumboots, a spade, and a fork or rake.

Children are of course welcome to come along for the day.

🌱 Many hands. One food forest.

Looking forward to hearing from you.
