What a night!!! We’re absolutely stoked to be bringing home TWO more awards from last night’s 2026 DM Dunninghams Great New Zealand Sausage Competition 🥳🏆

🥈 SILVER for our Honey Lamb & Rosemary sausages

🥉 BRONZE for our Toulouse sausages

These are sausages that have been on the Mangawhai Meat Shop shelves since the beginning, and we are over the moon that they have finally got an award that go with the already massive following they have.

With a record-breaking 869 entries this year, it was tough competition. So to be recognised alongside some of NZ’s best is an awesome feeling 😍

Massive credit to our little team who put in the hard yards week after week. Couldn't be prouder of what we achieve together 👊❤️

Todays a big one for our little team 🏆🤩

We’ll be closing the shop at 3pm as the whole crew heads off to the annual NZ Sausage Awards. There’s over 900 entries this year which is a new record!! and the competition is always fierce BUT for the 15th year in a row we already know we’ve won something... We just don’t know what yet. We’ll keep you posted 🤞🥳🍾

Happy 40th birthday to our main man, aka the Meat Lord ❤️

Dan is a very humble man, but today we would like to acknowledge all the amazing things he does, not only for our family and team, but for our community too.

He works incredibly hard and still always shows up to support us. He is our rock and we are so lucky to have him.

Dan is also always one of the first to donate or support our community, usually without wanting any acknowledgement for it. So today, we wanted to make a special shout-out to him and everything he does for all of us.

We love you so much and hope you have the best 40th birthday and a wonderful, much-deserved little break to bring in your 40s ❤️

If you like a little kick with dinner, these are WELL worth a crack 🌶️😏

Our chicken jalapeño poppers have landed in the cabinet and they’re bloody good 🤤

Chicken stuffed with cream cheese, mozzarella and jalapeños, then wrapped in smokey bacon… hard to go wrong with that combo

Chuck them in the oven or air fryer for 35–40 minutes and you’re done 👌

The BBQ’s about to earn its keep again!!

Daylight saving starts this Sunday, which means the clocks go forward and those long evenings are on their way back ☀️

If your BBQ’s spent winter hiding under a cover give it a dust off, a good clean and get it ready for a bit more action

Nearly 20 years later… and a few of us are still going strong 👊

A customer dropped this old Taste Magazine into us ages ago and it’s a pretty cool little piece of Mangawhai history

Back in 2007, Taste came north for their “Northern Lights” feature, looking at some of the awesome food, producers and businesses popping up around Mangawhai and the surrounding area

There’s been a LOT of change since then, but it’s pretty cool to see a few of us are still here doing our thing:

Bennetts of Mangawhai, Kaiwaka Cheese Shop , McLeod's Pizza Barn, Waipu , The Olive Shed , Mangawhai Beach Market … and of course our little butcher shop 🔪😍
