So it was fantastic to catch up with James the other day, together with his wife and his team, including .mcnab from **es , for a fantastic dinner, great company, and some seriously exciting w**es at .martinborough . 🍷of course forgot to take a photo of the w**es 🙄

Thanks so much for a magnificent evening! Looking forward to seeing you again in the not-too-distant future at vine-tucking season, as spring has most definitely arrived in the Wairarapa! Cheers! 🍷

A few days after International Pinot Noir Day, it was also Pinot Day in Auckland; and the first one in memoriam of Curt Thomas, the founder of Pinot Day.

A wonderfully casual get-together of Pinot Noir lovers, sharing and tasting a remarkable line-up of beautifully matured Pinots; this time from the fabulous 2016 vintage.

26 Pinots, mostly from New Zealand, but also from Bourgogne, Australia, and California… and honestly, not a single w**e was a letdown.

Curt would have been proud. 🍷❤️

Fresh , part 2… 🦪Raw oysters + a beautifully crisp = pure spring bliss (well.. it’s almost spring…). In particular a more restrained style, dry, vibrant and refreshing, with zesty citrus, grapefruit, a touch of saline/mineral character and plenty of mouthwatering acidity, the perfect counterpoint to the ocean-fresh, briny deliciousness of raw oysters. And the molluscs don’t need much. Just a squeeze of lemon or the lightest mignonette. Keep it simple. Let the oysters shine. Let the Sauvignon Blanc do the rest. 🍋🦪 Fresh. Saline. Crisp. Utterly addictive.
