"That's all Folks"

As a lot of you know our season ended rather abruptly last week. Definitely not the way we wanted the season to end but you can't control Mother Nature🤷🏼

We will not let that overshadow the fantastic season we had.

It has been a tough season for the 🫐 with the insane summer we have had however our regular regulars have stood by us rain, wind or sunshine week in and week out. To them we are so grateful 💙

The amount of new pickers was crazy it was a pleasure to meet you all💙

Since our last season 2 of our most regular families have welcomed new additions to their Whanau. Meeting them here at what we hope will become one of their favorite places to visit fills us with pure joy. We love these little extra moments💙

We are so proud of what we have managed to create here at Tūrutu Orchard. The laughter and sound of pure joy in the field every weekend is wonderful to hear. This is exactly what we hoped it would be Whanau enjoy quality time together.

We definitely have a bit of hard Mahi ahead.

We look forward to seeing you next season💙💙

A huge THANK YOU from the 3 of us🤠🫐👍🏼

As the weather has eased I thought it would be a good idea to go and start stripping the bushes of 🫐 before the birds did it for us. Unfortunately the rain we had with the storm has split the majority of the fruit. I did find some good fruit amoung the few bushes I checked👍🏼

We would like to invite whoever can make it to come and pick what they can tomorrow. The split fruit is perfect for making jams. Go for gold. We will leave the gate to the paddock open as we will be at work👍🏼

As I was leaving the field our dogs made me smile, even though they could simply jump out of the field where the net used to be they chose to sit and wait at the gate for me to open it and let them out💙💙💙💙💙

Most importantly we hope everyone out there is safe, dry and warm?

What a wild 24 hours that has been, hopefully this weather moves on quickly.

Unfortunately our net could not stand up to the strong gusts. We also lost a few bushes and a huge amount of fruit is now on the ground🫣.

We are not sure if we will be able to open again this season, the chances are very slim.

Please stay safe.

We will keep you posted🤠🫐👍🏼

Hope everyone is keeping safe🤞🏼, it's wild out there.

We didn't think this season could get any better, well we were wrong💙

Even with the wintery weather we had so many visitors, a mix of regular regulars, once or twice a season pickers and a heap of first time visitors. Thank you all for helping us make this small PYO 🫐 field what it has become💙

Our day was full of family stories, jokes, laughter and love. Romance in the Rows wasn't what it could have been but a big thanks to those who came out yesterday evening you did well as the weather wasn't very pleasant at all😔

We had our biggest individual pick of the season a whopping 6.8kgs of 🫐.

The icing on the cake was a visit from Tūrutu Orchards youngest 🫐 baby (not even 3 weeks old). The chances of this wee girl loving 🫐 are pretty high as her Whanau have been visiting our Orchard for many years. We never take moments like this for granted and feel very privileged to be able to share in them.

Take care and have a great week. Watch out for our update Thursday for the upcoming weekend.

🤠🫐👍🏼

Morena, with today's weather forecast and the wind we currently have out here we will not be opening for PYO today. It's not very pleasant in the Orchard.

Stay safe it's predicted to get wild.

All set for our "Romance in the Rows" pickers from 6pm - 8pm 💙❤️💙❤️💙

This group of pickers made the journey over from the Hutt Valley today (there is one local in the group). All we could hear was lots of laughter whilst they were picking. Thank you so much🤠🫐👍🏼

Morena, a wee update for today.

No change to opening times💙👍🏼

Luckily the rain missed us yesterday evening. The weather is perfect for picking this morning cloud cover and a bit of wind to keep the temp down.

Hope to see you soon🤠🫐👍🏼

Isn't is great to finally have a taste of the Summer we all wanted🌞.

Another Thursday rolls around and we need to start thinking 🤔 about what to do this weekend.

Why not head out to Tūrutu Orchard with friends and Whanau this Saturday to pick your share of delicious 🫐. We are going to open for PYO from 10am until 2pm. We have plenty of delicious fruit in the field just waiting to be picked and taken home.

It's Valentine's Day so why not try something different like "Romance in the Rows"? We will also open from 6pm until 8pm. Bring your Valentine for a nice relaxing evening pick, you are more than welcome to bring a blanket and a picnic💙

Kia Ora, hope everyone had a relaxing long weekend?

Well another weekend closer to the end of the 🫐 season and another massive PYO had here Saturday.

We didn't know how many pickers we would have with the Martinborough fair on so we were pleasantly surprised with what turned out to be our second biggest PYO of the season🤯.

Thank you all so very much for supporting us and for all your positive feedback💙.

At this stage our next PYO will be this coming Saturday (Valentine's Day) weather dependant. What we are wanting to do is a pick in the morning at our normal time and then an evening pick which our son said we should call "Romance in the Rows". We will confirm this plan later in the week so don't book out Valentine's evening just yet💙❤️

Thank you so much for the jam, looking forward to breakfast tomorrow morning🤠🫐👍🏼

Morena, what a gorgeous morning out there🌞.

We have checked the 🫐 in the field and we have decided to remain closed today after a busy PYO yesterday.

We will let the bushes recover for a Valentine's day pick.

Watch this space.

Have a great Sunday.

Kia ora.

We have checked the Blueberries after last night's rain and amazingly we did not find a lot of split fruit in the field🫣 we did however find plenty of beautiful ripe 🫐 check out the photos in the reel taken today. Jump in the car and head out to our place you will not be disappointed.

As it is Waitangi Day Friday we will be closed.

We will be open for PYO Saturday from 10am - 2pm. We will make a call about Sunday after the PYO Saturday. Watch this space.

🫐$2 per 100grams
