Stock Manager

JOB DESCRIPTION
An exciting opportunity has become available within a large family-owned Wairarapa business which offers diversity and scale.

Wairio is a 1300ha sheep and beef finishing farm located 10-15mins from Featherston and Martinborough.

Wairio consist of

2300 ma ewes
finishing 18000 lambs
600 Bulls
400 steers and heifers (All Cattle are farmed with Halter)
All stock are sourced from the wider Business

We are currently seeking a motivated Stock Manager that has experience in sheep and beef finishing. The Stock Manager works closely with the farm Operations Manager in planning, coordinating livestock systems to achieve agreed production and financial targets.

Key Responsibilities:

• Implement livestock management plans in line with overall farm objectives and monitor livestock performance

• Assist in planning stocking policies, feed budgets, and seasonal livestock strategies.

• Plan, coordinate, and carry out daily livestock activities including but not limited to mustering, drafting,measuring, general work, animal health treatments, lambing, calving support, and weaning.

• Coordinate with shepherding staff to ensure livestock plans are executed effectively.

• Maintain accurate livestock and performance records.

• Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and reporting related to livestock operations.

• Assist with general farm tasks associated with repairs and maintenance.

• Report regularly on stock performance, issues, and upcoming priorities to the

Operations Manager.

The successful applicant requires the following:

· Strong livestock management experience with 2-3 working dogs

· Strong communications skills, and ability to work in a team

· Sound understanding of production systems and performance drivers.

· Ability to analyse information and make informed management decisions
The ability to create a strong team environment

The Stock manager role comes with a competitive remuneration package including a: Tidy 3-bedroom home with a school bus at the gate, with primary school less than 5 minutes away.
