Foulden Hill Genetics

We picked ‘Fat heifa’ up from Outram Butchery and Homekill this week. A 20 month old Santa Gertrudis X Hereford heifer, 296kg on the hooks. Feels very hard to justify putting her in the freezer with beef prices as good as they are but man this is going to be tasty! Into the fridge to age - countdown is on!

Spring time 🥳🥰 First calf on the ground, a very sweet wee ‘Tarcombe McLaren’ sired heifer (a week early, happy and healthy). We always tag and weigh at birth but this year we are utilising the Allflex ‘TSU Birth Pack’ which has a visual ID, NAIT tag and DNA tissue sample unit (all linked together). A moment more at birth but very straightforward! It will mean access to genomically enhanced EBVs early and save a yarding down the track. Heifer was 35kg ☺️

Foulden Hill Genetics - Sale Day 2026 🗓️☀️✨

The sun was shining, the weather was absolutely amazing, and we logged our most successful sale day yet, clearing 17/22 bulls at our annual sale!A massive thank you to all the buyers, under-bidders, and visitors who supported us. Seeing our repeat clients return and welcoming new faces to the property is part of why we love breeding high-quality cattle. A special highlight for our family—the kids had their very first Charolais bull up for sale, and he found a great new home! An event like this takes a village. A huge shoutout to the friends and family who stepped in to help the Foulden Hill team make the day possible. We couldn't have done it without you.

Certainly feels like bull sale season with a massive high of 3degrees in Middlemarch and the sun a no show. Here’s hoping we are out of the fog and a touch warmer up the hill come Friday! At least there was a good turn out of supporters with a trophy on the line and Strath taking out the win 💪 🏆 🏉 How good is our wee community!
