Reducing emissions isn’t only about meeting industry expectations. It can also be about running a more efficient, more profitable herd.

By focusing on traits such as fertility, growth, feed efficiency and lifetime productivity, we can select cattle that make better use of the resources available to them.

That means the same breeding decisions that support a stronger bottom line can also contribute to reducing emissions intensity over time.

For us, sustainability and profitability shouldn’t sit on opposite sides of the fence. Better-performing cattle can help deliver both.

Halter live in action. Our Angus cows are on the move, working their way around hills that have never had this level of attention before.

That’s one of the exciting things about technology like Halter. It gives us the ability to manage stock movement and pasture utilisation with far greater precision, while also opening up areas of the farm that have traditionally been harder to graze effectively.

For us, it’s another example of how data and technology can support better farming decisions, improve efficiency and help us get more from the land we already have.

Watching the cows calmly work their way across the hills is a pretty good reminder that innovation doesn’t always look complicated.

Sometimes, it just looks like cattle going exactly where you need them to.

At the opening of the new Pekapeka–Rissington Bridge, one of the most meaningful moments was the unveiling of the new interpretive monument.

Created in corten steel, the piece tells part of the story of this place, linking the history of Pekapeka, the name once associated with Rissington, with the generations who have lived, farmed and travelled through this valley.

It also stands as a reminder of everything that has happened here more recently.
Cyclone Gabrielle changed the landscape, damaged vital connections and began a long period of rebuilding for our farm and wider community.

So this monument is not only about looking back. It is also about recognising recovery, resilience and the importance of reconnecting people and place.

For our family, there is something very special about seeing the names Pekapeka and Rissington brought together again, carrying both history and the future forward.

A permanent marker of where we have come from, what we have been through, and where we are heading next.

Our partnerships with dairy farmers committed to building beef as a coproduct continue to expand.

Providing high-merit Profit Maker® Herd Bulls for dairy heifers and cows to order for natural service is a key part of this partnership. Our proprietary HD50k for $Profit genomic test, run by Zoetis for us as part of the Leachman $Profit partners around the world, has been a key enabler in making this happen cost-effectively, along with our beef breeder partners and feeding systems.
