Rissington is a proud family owned and operated bull-breeding business.

From a farming standpoint we believe in demonstrating best practice in everything we do to sustain the land and are all about breeding more profitable cattle to live from it. We enjoy the opportunity to visit and discuss cattle breeding programs around the country. We had a fun dinner out with John and Julie Hepburn to mark John’s retirement (for real this time Julie says!) as a leader in reproductive technology. Lots of stories and laughs from a journey that started in the late 1980s. Massive embryo transfers programmes and semen exports at home and in many corners of the world across South America, UK, Australia and even Kazakhstan!

As always most of the chat was about the great characters from all over the world we worked with along that journey who helped us through good times and challenging times - too many to mention but you’ll know who you are.

Our recent trip was a great reminder of just how important long-term partnerships are to Rissington. Over decades - some stretching nearly 50 years - we’ve built relationships with local and international collaborators that are central to who we are and how we stay competitive in the global beef supply chain.

These partnerships often span generations, built on trust, mutual respect, and shared goals. Because to have great partners, you need to be one.

Appreciative to be invited and proud to have Rissington and beef acknowledged at LIC Breeders Day, but the relationship is anything but new. Nearly 40 years supplying beef genetics through LIC to dairy farmers who are increasingly treating beef as a coproduct from their non-replacements females, not a distraction.

Dairy farmers have real choice when it comes to beef genetics, and we think that's a good thing. Choice drives standards. Rissington exists to win that decision on merit: the most accurate across breed calving ease proofs in the country, unmatched feed efficiency data, proven real world rearing, finishing and carcass performance, and now the Better Beef Collective and Beef Central connecting the full chain from conception to carcass traits.
