🌴 LITTLE BANG BANG IS TAKING A BREAK! 🌴

A little update from Little Bang Bang 💛

Sorry for the late notice, everyone! There has been so much going on behind the scenes lately, but it’s finally time for us to take a little break.

Little Bang Bang will be taking around 6 weeks off while we head back to Malaysia 🇲🇾✈️

It’ll be a chance for some family time, a bit of rest and — knowing us — a LOT of eating and exploring good food. 😂🍜🍛 Hopefully we’ll come home with full bellies and some fresh inspiration for Little Bang Bang too!

And yes — we will be coming back to our same spot! ❤️

Once we’re back in Nelson and ready to get the trailer cooking again, we’ll post an update with our reopening date.

Thank you to everyone who has stopped by, ordered lunch, told a friend about us, came back again and again, or simply supported this little food trailer. It really means a lot to us.

We can’t wait to have a little break, recharge, eat our way around Malaysia 😂 and then come home ready to serve you again.

🇲🇾 Have you tried nasi lemak before? Or have you ever wondered why Malaysians can happily eat it at almost any hour of the day? 😄

Nasi lemak is one of Malaysia’s most-loved dishes. It’s enjoyed across our Malay, Chinese and Indian communities—and it’s often called Malaysia’s national dish.

Breakfast? Yes.
Lunch? Yes.
Tea time? Of course.
Dinner or late-night supper? Absolutely! 😂

Basically, there’s never a wrong time for nasi lemak.

At its heart is fragrant coconut rice, traditionally served with spicy sambal, crunchy peanuts, anchovies, cucumber, a hard-boiled egg and your favourite protein. Every family and food stall has its own version and favourite pairing—that’s part of what makes nasi lemak so special.

Tomorrow night, we’re serving our Little Bang Bang version with two choices:

🐷 Golden Pork Belly Nasi Lemak — $19
Rich and savoury pork belly with tender layers and golden edges—the perfect match for coconut rice and spicy sambal.

🍗 Malaysian-Spiced Boneless Chicken Thigh Nasi Lemak — $19
Juicy boneless chicken thigh marinated with Malaysian spices, fried until golden and finished with crispy spiced crumbs.

After a week of slowing down, tidying the house, spending precious time with my little boy, and recharging, we’re back at our usual spot! 💛

What a journey these past few weeks have been.

When I started Little Bang Bang, I never imagined I’d one day be serving so many wonderful people at events like Matariki and the Light Festival. I honestly thought I was prepared… but your support completely blew me away.

Thank you to every single person who stopped by, waited patiently, shared a kind word, or chose our little food trailer. It truly means more than you know.

Running a small business is something I’m incredibly proud of, but it’s also a lot of work behind the scenes. It’s mostly just me—planning, shopping, prepping, cooking, serving, cleaning, replying to messages, updating social media, restocking… and then heading home to be Mum to my energetic three-and-a-half-year-old.

So this week, Little Bang Bang will be taking a short break.

Not because we’re slowing down…
But because we’re getting ready to come back even better.

This week is all about resetting, reorganising, cleaning the trailer, restocking the fridge, and recharging before the next chapter.

Every event teaches me something new, and I’m learning that success isn’t about being perfect—it’s about being consistent. That’s what I’m choosing to focus on from here.
