Looking to grow your own bananas? It's nearly planting time (a bit late this year due to the cool winter) - stems to plant will be available this month . You could have them fruiting in 18-24 months. All you need is space, sun and (if you have it) shelter. Just $15 per stem. Very happy to provide planting and instructions. 3-5 plants are good for a home orchard.

If you have banana plants, they will be looking battered and brown after the winter - and may even look dead if you got frosts. But with the warm weather they will be sprouting again, so now is a good time to trim off all dead and dying leaves, fertilise with anything at hand (blood & bone, animal manure, urea, super - whatever you have handy) and mulch with the trimmed leaves, lawn clippings, wool etc.
