To be featured on the most watched programme in the country is a pretty surreal moment! We were approached by the team at Hyundai Country Calendar last year to have a look inside our lives and business. Initially taken back, and after some convincing, Richie agreed 🫣 We are and always will be grateful for this opportunity to grow our little business.

Thank you to everyone in our lives for making this possible for us! And thanks to the best film crew for making us look good 💚

We will be entering our fencing season from March onwards and will be unable to do any shearing 🐑

We are hiring!

Experienced Fencer / Foreman

Rural Worx Ltd – Te Horo
Immediate Start | Full-Time

Rural Worx is on the hunt for an experienced fencer / foreman to join our growing team and take the lead on commercial-scale rural fencing projects.

We are a hardworking, locally owned rural contracting business based in Te Horo, servicing the wider Wellington–Horowhenua region. We pride ourselves on quality workmanship, reliability, and good old-fashioned work ethic.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who knows fencing inside and out and is confident running their own crew on site.

About the Role

You will be:

- Leading hand/2IC with 3 other crew members
- Leading and completing commercial-scale rural fencing projects
- Working across a variety of fencing types, with a strong focus on large-scale rural contracts
- Operating machinery including tractors, post rammers, 4WDs, ATVs, and specialized fencing equipment
- Occasionally assisting with general rural work, including farm fencing and stock-related tasks

This is a physically demanding, outdoor role suited to someone who enjoys a hard day’s work and takes pride in building quality fences that last. We work in all weather.

What We Offer

- Full-time, Monday–Friday work
(Optional Saturdays available, but not required)
- Competitive salary based on experience
- Company vehicle and phone
- All tools and machinery supplied
- Work across a range of large rural and commercial projects
- Public holidays off + Christmas shutdown
- A solid team culture with people who back each other and get the job done.

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

- Proven experience in fence construction
- Ability to confidently run a crew and manage jobs on site
- Full, clean driver’s license (must be able to drive manual)
- Physically fit and capable of handling heavy, repetitive outdoor work
- Strong can-do attitude and ability to handle pressure on busy job sites
- Willingness to undergo pre-employment and regular drug & alcohol testing

Highly Valued (but not essential):

- Experience with residential fencing
- Rural background or experience with stock work
- Ability to shear sheep and handle stock
- Someone who genuinely enjoys the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and rural life

Training can be provided for the right person, but a solid foundation in fencing is expected.
