Xena update- day 2 (19 days till due date)🌸

Our little 1.8kg warrior princess is still with us.
Had a rough night, but is looking brighter this afternoon and has both her eyes open.
50ml feeds every 3hr, fed by a 3ml syringe, a few drops at a time.
In our spare bedroom at 25c, with her big brother’s home knitted jersey on for good luck.
Not able to stand yet, but she tries.

Meet ‘Xena’
Another 20 day premature lamb in our care.
Yes, just when things were getting easier, with just 3 ewes left to lamb, we saw this little ewe lamb being born. Knowing she wasn’t due till the 25th of September, we watched closely as her beautiful first-time Mum licked her beautifully clean, hoping she would rise to her feet.
Alas, she’s only the size of a rabbit, eyes still sealed closed, hooves jelly and not strong enough to stand. So much like Rocky’s start to life!
We do have a couple of things on our side though. I was able to milk about 120ml of colostrum from her Mum, she drank from the bottle and she has her beautiful hair coat.
Still not out of the woods though.
Please cheer this beautiful little girl on. Just like her warrior princess namesake, and big brother Rocky, she has a fight in her. She just needs a chance.
