Weather. We experienced some unexpected and rare weather on August 3rd last year —a rare snowfall covered the ground, posing a challenge for our blueberry plants. While they were dormant at the time, September marks the awakening of the plants and the beginning of flower formation. If the snow damaged the flowers during this critical period, we risk losing the entire season's yield. Something to take into account over this area!

In our blueberry orchard, we're in the midst of a crucial trial phase. We're understanding the resilience of our plants against cold, weather fluctuations, and soil conditions. This stage is some trial and error and no guarantees, some learning. One key decision we've made is to remove the flowers that start to bloom. It might seem counterintuitive, but by doing so for the first three seasons, we're directing the plants' energy into root development. It's a strategic move aimed at laying a strong foundation for future growth and bountiful harvests.

We've constructed growth beds, meticulously planned irrigation systems, and dug holes in anticipation of planting. With each step, we ensure the soil is primed for success, removing excess soil to create optimal conditions for our blueberries to take root and thrive.
