FAQ #7 - How often does the turf need watering? 🤔


💦 Initially, water daily to keep the turf moist while re-establishing (about 2 weeks). After this period reduce the frequency of watering to encourage the development of deeper and stronger roots.

Weather conditions and time of year will dictate amount and frequency of watering. Be sure the new turf has enough moisture to survive hot ☀️, dry and windy 🍃 periods.

❗ The single biggest reason for turf failure is due to insufficient watering during re-establishment. ❗

🤔 Have you ever wondered how stadiums such as Sky Stadium & McLean Park get new turf??

That's right - it is grown & nurtured right here at Turflands! 🌱

Recently we harvested some of this specialty "Reinforced Sand Turf":
- Each roll is approx 800-900kg
- The rolls are 1m wide by 10-11m long

The window from harvest to installation is less that 24 hours - so it is all hands (& tractors 🚜) on deck!

🎄🎄Christmas - Key Dates from Turflands🎄🎄

With Christmas fast approaching, we wanted to keep you updated with key dates in preparation for our annual Christmas shutdown period.

Key dates to be aware of:
🎄 Monday 22nd December - Last day for any turf orders to be dispatched requiring delivery on Tuesday 23 December.
🎄 Tuesday 23rd December - Last day for any turf orders to be collected from Turflands.
🎄 Monday 12th January - Reopen, turf harvesting commencement to be confirmed, estimate Tuesday 13th January.


Additional Information:
• We will be back in the office on Monday 12th January.
• If you have turf orders for early January, please do feel to email or place through the website and we will respond once we are back in the office.
• Due to the pressure on transport network at this time of year, we highly recommend that orders are consigned to nearest freight depot for collection.
• Our lead-time on turf orders is 2-3 working days, subject to seasonal demands. Orders are processed on ‘first come, first served’ basis. We will endeavour to meet your expectation on delivery dates and recommend ordering as early as possible.
• It would be preferable to email your orders to [email protected] or via the website www.turflands.co.nz using “Request a turf quote or place an order” function.
