The bulls are excited it’s their favourite time of year…..
Monday saw the start of our mating season. This year we opted to give AI a miss and lease a bull with outcross genetics. Something that is very hard to work around when choosing homebred bulls. We were incredibly lucky to have Black Ridge Unquestionable offered to us by owners Matt & Tania Wilkinson of Lowland Park Beef, New Zealand.
Unquestionable will lodge here till early December making acquaintances with 8 lovely cows and their August born calves. He ticks all the boxes of what we wanted with an outcross bull and our breeding objectives. New genetics, growth, a beef producing frame, super quiet laidback attitute to life and handsome good looks. This guy looks every bit a beef sire.

But there was one guy that I just couldn’t resist using this season. Unhinged has a back story as all the special ones do, but he has matured into something quite exceptional and has the stats to back it up. Unhinged sits fairly on the top of Ironclad’s best performing list over all previously bred bulls. Exceptional growth, fantastic length, perfect feet, beef producing frame and that almost doopy nothing phases me docile nature that I’m constantly striving to achieve.
We are very excited for July/Aug 2026 as both these bulls will deliver exceptional calves.
