Our team have responded to a burst water pipe at 37 Cornford Street.

Our records indicate that this asset was installed in 1965.

The area affected is as follows:

• 17 – 69 Cornford Street, odd side
• 4 - 26 Cornford Street, even side

This shutdown will affect approximately 40 properties. We have turned the water off to this area.

It is anticipated that service will be interrupted for at least 5 hours. We are awaiting urgent markouts and traffic control before the excavation process can begin.

The area affected is as follows:

This shutdown will affect approximately 11 properties. We have turned the water off to this area.

It is anticipated that service will be interrupted for at least 1 hour.

Tiaki Wai and Wellington City Council are hosting a special community meeting to discuss the response to the Crown Review’s findings following the flooding of the Moa Point Wastewater Treatment Plant, as well as ongoing progress towards re-establishing full operations.

FINAL UPDATE - 2:00PM, 31/8

The blockage is now cleared and pumps are running as normal.

There has been no wastewater overflow as a result of the morning's blockage.

UPDATE 1 - 12:15PM, 31/8

The ram have managed to partially clear the blockage and we now have one pump working.

Sucker trucks are still working to control the waste water inflows, while we look to fully clear the blockage at the inlet.

There is no overflow occurring as a result of this blockage.

We will update this post with the latest progress by mid-afternoon.

We have responded to a wastewater blockage at a pump station located on Chaffers Street. Currently, approximately 10 carparks at the New World Carpark are blocked off from public use to allow space for our vehicles and equipment.

Sucker trucks and crews are operating to capture flows at the Chaffers Street and discharge to two nearby pump stations (Waitangi Park and Market Lane). There will be traffic management in place around these locations.

Currently, we are able to manage the situation in order to prevent a wastewater overflow.

We are investigating options to clear the blockage and will update the situation before midday.

We have received reports for loss of services outside the affected area. Following the isolation of the network, customers outside of the affected area should receive service shortly.

It is anticipated that service will be interrupted for at least 5 hours. We are awaiting urgent markouts and traffic control before the excavation process can begin.
