Some of Baygold's most important relationships began a long way from the orchard.
More than 15 years ago, people from an island in Vanuatu, called Tanna, trusted Baygold enough to leave home and travel to New Zealand to work. Those people are now friends, and their families have become part of the Baygold family.
Baygold's Community Impact GM Carina Hall and Orchard Supervisor Noah Robinson have just returned from a week in Vanuatu with their RSE family, to see where those relationships began and to listen to what matters most to their communities.
In Tanna, they were welcomed as family into the villages Baygold's RSE team call home, with a special visit to Loukatai Primary School, listening and learning first-hand about where the community's needs are and how Baygold might help. In Port Vila, they saw the solar system Baygold funded and helped install at the Family Care Centre, now up and running and already saving the important facility thousands in power costs. That money now goes straight back into its “klinik”, which provides much-needed medical care and education programmes for local families.
The team came home with full hearts and a lot to reflect on about the priorities ahead. Relationships like these are at the heart of Baygold's community impact, and we're deeply grateful to the people of Tanna and Port Vila for opening their communities to us.
