Farmers really are the key 🔐 to conservation!

🤯 feeling rather sorry for our neighbouring catchment around this one!

🤔 let’s keep our eyes open and ear to the ground as this is not something we need after all the hard work our community has done to improve our catchments water quality…

We were fortunate enough to be able to introduce Tama Potaka the Minister of Conservation, Maori development, and associate minister for Housing to the Maniototo.

Tama toured with Miles Anderson and Janine from Tiaki Maniototo to see the work achieved through the project funding, after meeting a group of local farmers at the golf club that shared their experiences with DoC as neighbours.

Renee showed the land under DoC stewardship to provide perspective from the maps. Tama was in awe of the open spaces and scale. Grazing options, w**d and pest control were very much a big focus during his trip.

Thanks to Jeremy from Maniototo Irrigation Company and Rob from Miles’ office for organising the day.
