Assistant Farm Manager – Gorge Creek Flats (Oturehua)
Gorge Creek Flats is a proud, family-owned and operated 1330ha beef operation located at the Idaburn end of the Ida Valley. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Farm Manager to join our team and help oversee the livestock division of our 2,000-head cattle operation.
The Role
• Lead all daily livestock operations and cattle movements across our 1330ha property.
• Execute intensive grazing strategies and pasture management tailored to the Central Otago climate.
• Uphold high standards of animal health, welfare, and meticulous record-keeping.
• Work closely with the owners to meet production targets and farm goals.
• Coordinate with contractors for seasonal requirements.
• Assist with the upkeep of farm infrastructure, including water systems and fencing.
About You
• Extensive experience in a senior stock or farm assistant role.
• Strong work ethic and the ability to work independently within a family-business structure.
• Skilled in low-stress stock handling and passionate about beef production.
• Practical and tech-literate, capable of managing digital farm records.
• Reliable and honest, looking to settle into the vibrant Oturehua /Maniototo community.
