Little Biddy Gin - Navy. The story behind the name.

This special release was inspired by Arthur Bass, father of Reefton Distilling Co. founder Patsy Bass.

Arthur served in the Royal Navy during the Second World War before leaving England to build a new life in New Zealand, where he settled in Reefton. His pioneering spirit went on to shape the story of future generations.

More than 80 years later, that journey inspired Little Biddy Gin - Navy.

Crafted at Navy Strength, 57% ABV, it is a bold new expression of our internationally awarded Little Biddy Gin - Classic.

A new Little Biddy release, inspired by a journey that began over 80 years ago.

Created in honour of Arthur Bass, father of Reefton Distilling Co. founder Patsy Bass, Little Biddy Gin - Navy celebrates a remarkable family story. After serving with the Royal Navy during World War II, Arthur travelled halfway around the world to build a new life in Reefton. Over 80 years later, Patsy returned to her hometown to establish Reefton Distilling Co., continuing that family legacy.

Bottled at 57% ABV, Little Biddy Gin - Navy takes our award-winning Little Biddy Gin - Classic to a bolder level, delivering greater botanical intensity while remaining smooth and balanced.

Expect bright citrus, layered native botanicals and a warm spice finish. Enjoy it neat over ice, with quality tonic or soda water, or in a classic Martini or Negroni.

Little Biddy Vodka is made with pristine West Coast rainwater, carried thousands of kilometres across the Great Southern Ocean, untainted by landmass, before falling here in Reefton.

That pristine water makes up 60% of every bottle, helping create a vodka that is beautifully neutral, smooth and slightly sweet.

Clean, refined and quietly distinctive, it is a vodka shaped by one of the purest natural ingredients which we have in abundance.

Carefully selected for their flavour, character and connection to place, our freshly foraged native botanicals help shape the spirit in a way that feels unmistakably Aotearoa New Zealand.

Each botanical brings something different to the gin, adding balance, aroma and depth to the final spirit.

A bottle years in the making.

In late 2024, we reached a major milestone with the introduction of our bespoke Little Biddy spirits bottle.

Before it became the bottle you see today, it started as several 3D printed plastic prototypes, followed by clear plastic versions to make sure every detail was right before we invested in the glass moulds and large production runs.

The final design was created to tell the Little Biddy story from the outside in.

Our signature Little Biddy Classic bottle is made in our own custom colour, Rainforest Green, created to reflect the native rainforest we call home, and that inspires all that we do.

The bottle features embossed botanicals as a nod to the fresh native botanicals we use, the name Little Biddy embossed on the front, and proudly Reefton, New Zealand in the base.

When we introduced Little Biddy Vodka, we carried that same bespoke bottle design into a blue frosted finish, creating something that feels pure, elegant and unmistakably Little Biddy.

Every detail has been carefully considered, because for us, the bottle is not just packaging.

It is part of the story.
